Workshop description:
This class is for those who have some basic forging experience right up to those who are seasoned blacksmiths.
Prior to class, Dan will ask each student to design the project(s) they’d like to forge. He will then guide each student through the forging processes needed to complete their project(s). He will also provide some demonstrations of fun and exciting forms and techniques during the class.
“The Clearing” is nestled in a forested area overlooking the bay of Green Bay in Wisconsin’s fabulous and picturesque Door County. Lodging is available onsite and packages include delicious meals. For more information, please see:

A Message From Mike May, 2021 Dear Friends, Spring has sprung, although, as usual, it’s taking its sweet time traveling all the way up the Door Peninsula. We can blame the “big water” on both sides of the peninsula for this. Large bodies of water warm up slowing in spring and cool down slowly ...

A simple screen 34" x 42". Made for The Clearing Folk School in Ellison Bay, WI on the picturesque Door County peninsula. The window is a typical design feature throughout the campus. If you click on the window image, you'll see the bay of Green Bay in the background. The school was founded in 1935 by landscape architect Jens Jensen (1860-1951). This “school of the soil” is nestled within 128 acres of Door County forests and meadows and overlooks the dramatic Green Bay shoreline. It was built as a place where ordinary people could, as the name implies, “clear one’s mind” by reconnecting with nature and with one another. I took this picture from my favorite vantage point for having an early morning coffee. (Note: I did NOT make the fire tools.)

Looking for a manual for the Striker STC-55. The unit was donated to The Clearing Folk School in Ellison Bay, WI, but does not have a manual. The unit has an oiler problem, as it feeds so much oil to the ram, that it gushes all over the work-piece. Any help is appreciated, as there is apparently no longer a US dealer for Striker. (Machineco no longer carries them, and hasn't for eight years.)
