The Medicine Shoppe has never endorsed a candidate before, but when it comes to the Insurance Commissioner one supports us as a community pharmacy, and the other has worked against us. As many of you know, we had to unfortunately close one of our Medicine Shoppe locations in Kansas City, KS earlier this year. DINAH SYKES helped us pass legislation so that we can hopefully keep our doors open for many years to come, however her opponent did everything he could to keep that legislation from passing. For these reasons we hope you support us by voting for for Insurance Commissioner

💊 Did you know?

A pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) might tell a health plan or employer a prescription costs $100. The plan pays the PBM that $100.

But the PBM may have a separate contract with the local pharmacy and only reimburse the pharmacy $85 to dispense the medication.

So what happens to the $15 difference?

The PBM keeps it.

This practice is called spread pricing - and those dollars never go back to the employer, patient, or the pharmacy that actually provided the medication.

SB360 aims to stop this practice and bring pricing transparency to the marketplace. Urge your representative to vote YES on SB360 - vote YES for Patients over Profits!

Edited to add: This is just one example. The contracts can vary wildly as do the "spread" PBMs keep for themselves.

I wanted to take a moment to thank our loyal patients at Hutton Rd. It is with great sadness that we have to close our pharmacy. We would like to welcome you to our 65th and Parallel store where we will continue the same great service with Free Delivery and Compliance Packaging. Today we celebrated the retirement of a legend in the Pharmacy industry. Mark Theno gave over 50 years of dedication to our community, and we want to thank him for everything he has done. For Pharmacy and especially for us here at The Medicine Shoppe, We Thank You! Our family here at the Medicine Shoppe will miss him and wish him well and want him to enjoy a well deserved retirement!
