This spring we congratulated 3 young associates who are graduating from High School or College. This got me thinking about how many young men and women we had the honor of employing who have graduated while working for us.

After more than 50 years, I am sure the number is in the thousands! These “kids” would (almost!) always show up to work with smiles on their faces, ready to go to work…even on a Friday night! We all benefited immensely from their enthusiasm and eagerness…and their strong backs!

Many of them have gone on to become doctors, lawyers, teachers, marine biologists, CEO’s and many other wonderful professions. I occasionally see some of these same “kids” come in the store with their young children in tow. I like to think that we had at least a small part in their success!

We’re so thrilled to have former employee, Mike Lopez, working for us again. Mike began working at Euston Hardware in Prairie Village in the early 2000s during high school and beyond for a few years. He then came back several years later to work for us when he returned from the military. For the past few months, after many years in another career, he’s back with us! Mike is always knowledgeable and so helpful. Thankful for you, Mike!
