It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of Ed Mulcahy, one of our founders.

In 1966, Ed co-founded Johnson, Brickell, Mulcahy and Associates, which later became TranSystems. Under his leadership, the firm grew from a small engineering and planning company in Kansas City to a nationally recognized organization. Ed was also a prominent figure in the engineering industry, serving as Board Chair of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) from 2004 to 2006. Ed’s life was guided by a deep commitment to leadership, mentorship, and service to his community, values that continue to inspire everyone who knew him or knew of him.

We extend our deepest condolences to Ed’s family and to those of you who knew him well. Ed’s memory will live on in the work we do, the values we uphold, and the spirit of service we strive to emulate every day.

Gannett Fleming TranSystems has proudly been selected as Lead Designer, in partnership with Lead Contractor Ajax Paving, for a $26.65M design-build project for the Florida Department of Transportation District 7 to address critical transportation needs along the heavily trafficked I-4 corridor. This project involves constructing a new truck parking facility and reconstructing the I-4/County Line Road interchange to accommodate growing truck traffic demands.

The I-4 corridor is one of the nation’s busiest truck routes, currently managing over 18,000 trucks daily. To alleviate the increasing strain on existing infrastructure, this project will create more than 120 public truck parking spaces, providing a significant boost to the limited 342 private spaces currently available in the area. The redesigned interchange will also improve traffic flow and safety, essential for supporting the corridor's projected growth.

A big congratulations to the project teams!👏
