Hot take: “Close enough” is one of the most expensive phrases in construction.
It shows up as a slightly off bolt pattern, a bracket that needs persuasion, or a platform that installs, but not cleanly. It rarely triggers a full stop, which is exactly why it slips through.
Instead, it creates a series of small adjustments that quietly consume labor hours and attention.
The project still finishes, but it rarely finishes efficiently.
Where do you see “close enough” creating the most hidden cost in your projects?
