This is the biggest association news in funeral service in a very long time.

National Funeral Directors Association and Selected Independent Funeral Homes have signed a Letter of Intent to merge. If approved by both memberships later this year, Selected would become a distinct designation and community within a unified NFDA, preserving the peer relationships and excellence standards that have defined Selected for over a century while expanding the resources available to members. A unified membership structure is anticipated to launch in 2028.

Two associations. One century-plus of combined history. A profession facing consolidation pressure, workforce shortages, regulatory complexity, and shifting consumer expectations. The boards of both organizations looked at all of that and decided they are stronger together.
