Ford did not “pivot.”

They screwed this up.

Writing down $19.5 billion is not a strategy change.

It is the cost of chasing a narrative instead of a business model.

Ford bet billions that people would pay premium prices for electric versions of trucks that already had thin margins.
They assumed subsidies, headlines, and political pressure would carry demand.

They were wrong.

The electric F-150 was never a profit machine.

It was a press release with wheels.

Tesla did not win because EVs are magical.

Tesla won because they built an entirely new cost structure from day one.

Ford tried to graft batteries onto a legacy system built for gas, unions, dealerships, and incentives.

That math never worked.

Now the CEO is saying the quiet part out loud.

Large EVs do not make money.

It's the PR friendly way to say that Tesla is eating their lunch.
