Job Description: Verifies and keep records on outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment: Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, purchase orders, invoices, orders or other records. Affix shipping labels and/or identifies shipping information on cartons. Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects pre assembled containers. Inserts items into containers. Examines shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages. Routes items to departments. Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications. Operate lift truck or hank truck to move or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
Examines items for defects in materials, workmanship, and damage preparing for transit. Compares quantity of part number of items with other specifications to ensure completeness and accuracy of order. Inspects and measures for items for dimensional accuracy according to process instructions, blueprint, company policies and procedures, and other specifications, using precision measuring instruments and devices. Approves or rejects items, and records inspection and disposition information. May inspect outgoing products and materials. Will prepare inspection procedures/instructions for reference use in subsequent inspections, using data obtained from blueprints or customer specifications.
Qualifications: Must be able to perform basic arithmetic, reading and comprehension; writing and process instructions. Must have the ability to operate gages. Must have the ability to read and interpret blueprints. Must have the ability to understand basic use of and perform measurements using test equipment. Must be able to fallow process instructions. Must have the ability to understand and react to out of specification/control conditions and react with a corrective action resolution. Lift truck use. Testing and Training required. 90 day review.
Responsibility: Makes judgments and decisions on whether material or products are acceptable using quality criteria.
Freedom to Act: Can stop a shipment out of tolerance. Decides when to involve Quality or Plant Manager.
Work Environment: Frequently exposed to loud noise levels. Proximity to moving and mechanical punch press and equipment. Exposure to oils and lubricants
Physical Demands: Medium strength requirements (occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs. Maximum) Lifting and reaching.
