Not all surgical headlights are created equal.

In our newest blog, we’re talking about the details that make a real difference in the OR: clean beam patterns, shadow control, depth of field, comfort, and light that moves with the surgeon.

Because when visibility matters, the quality of the light matters too.

Sunoptic Surgical is proud to sponsor this episode of the Surgical Ergonomics Podcast featuring Dr. Sara White.
https://www.buzzsprout.com/2449794/episodes/19179818-the-hidden-toll-of-veterinary-medicine-with-dr-sara-white
This episode focuses on veterinary surgery, but the conversation is bigger than one specialty. Whether you’re in an OR, dental suite, or veterinary surgical setting, the way clinicians see, move, and hold posture all day matters. That’s where we naturally fit into the conversation. Sunoptic headlights are built for clinicians who need premium light that goes where they look with fit, balance, and visibility that help support long days and demanding procedures.
If your work depends on seeing clearly without fighting your equipment, check out a Sunoptic headlight. We offer no-risk evaluations so that you can see the difference a sinoptic makes for you.

This podcast will discuss everything relating to surgical and procedural  ergonomics i.e. the people, ideas and technology that will help enhance your physical wellness and career longevity.

Across Engineering, Production and Operations, today was about taking a moment to celebrate the people behind everything we build.

We stepped away from the floor and into a shared space to celebrate Cinco de Mayo together.

Good food, real conversations, and a moment to recognize the team behind everything we build.

AORN 2026, that’s a wrap.

What an incredible week in New Orleans. We’re grateful for every perioperative nurse who stopped by, shared insights, and reminded us why this work matters. The care you bring to the OR—every case, every patient—does not go unnoticed.

At Sunoptic Technologies , we’re proud to support you as the lighting experts in surgical headlights and visualization with camera technology. This year’s theme, “Lighting the Pathway,” couldn’t have been more fitting—we see it every day in the way nurses lead, guide, and elevate patient care.

Thank you for the conversations, the trust, and the work you do. We love and support our nurses—always.

Congratulations to the cardiovascular team at Auckland City Hospital and the donors who made this possible.

The Sunoptic HDC-300 Headlight Camera System brings the surgeon’s exact view onto the monitor in real time—supporting teamwork in the OR while creating powerful teaching and training opportunities for minimally invasive cardiac surgery.

Donation appreciation! ✨ This is no ordinary camera...📸

When a camera costs over $69k, you know it's something special, and this High-Definition HDC-300 Headlight Camera System – gifted to our world-class Cardiovascular team – truly is special!

Collective donations from New Horizon Community Trust, Akarana Community Trust, and The Trusts Community Foundation have funded this internationally-used technology, which will expand the team's capabilities in minimally invasive heart surgeries.

Auckland City Hospital is New Zealand’s only centre for complex cardiac surgery, interventional cardiology, and heart and lung transplants, so we're ever grateful to these three supporters for recognising the value in making this incredible upgrade possible. Minimally invasive surgeries use a small side incision, rather than a large cut through the breastbone, which means less trauma, fewer complications, and faster recovery for patients.

This show-stopping camera will assist teams working on our nation's hearts by:
✔️ Giving the team the surgeon’s-eye view to improve teamwork and precision
✔️ Recording high-quality videos and images for documentation and training
✔️ Upskilling the team in advanced minimally invasive techniques.

We've already seen remarkable success with our minimally invasive surgical programme, and with this camera, more patients will reap the rewards – improving outcomes now and into the future. 💙

Congratulations to the cardiothoracic team on these impressive milestones! Delivering nearly 50 minimally invasive mitral valve procedures with strong outcomes is a testament to skill, teamwork, and continued innovation in the OR.

We’re honored to support this program with the Sunoptic HDC-300 Surgical Headlight Camera, allowing others in the room—and beyond—to see exactly what the surgeon sees in real time. Clear visualization isn’t just valuable for documentation; it strengthens training, collaboration, and shared learning across surgical teams.

For more than 20 years, James “Mickey” Wormsley was far more than a partner to Sunoptic — he was family.
Mickey was the architect behind our GPO relationships, navigating contracts, building bridges, and ensuring Sunoptic had a strong and respected presence in the marketplace. He played a pivotal role in shaping our growth, managing those relationships with integrity, persistence, and trust.
He understood that strong partnerships are built on credibility and consistency. More than that, he understood the power of connection. Mickey was a connector in the truest sense — aligning Sunoptic with the right partners and strengthening those relationships over time.
He traveled alongside our team across the country and around the world, exhibiting at trade shows and proudly supporting the Sunoptic brand wherever we went.

If you knew Mickey, you knew two things: he never passed up a sweet dessert, and he absolutely adored his grandchildren. The pride in his voice when he spoke about them said everything about the kind of man he was.

We are grateful for his friendship, his loyalty, and the lasting impact he made on our company. He will be deeply missed and always remembered.
