September is National Honey month! Did you know it started in 1989 to promote American Bee Keeping. 🐝 Ruch Hardware promotes our local bee keepers at Keene Raw Honey. Scott and Karen have been huge supporters of us and since it is honey month, all honey is 10% off! If you haven’t tried their honey, you are definitely missing out. Stop by and pick yourself up a jar, help support two local businesses in one stop! 🐝🍯Happy National Honey Month

Hey everyone!
Lauren here. I thought that our community needed to be explained some details, perhaps not everyone knows the back story. And some people may say that being honest is not the correct way to handle it. I look at it like this- we live here because of the community that lives here, and we would want to know if you were in our shoes.
We purchased the hardware store in 2023 with the help of my Mom and her spouse. After the purchase of the store we were left with about 20k to work with. Shortly there after the Point of Sale system needed to be replaced. (Thank you Microsoft) So we bought a new system, and went into the new year still confident. With no capital in the bank, we pushed through and made it through the winter of 2024. In spring of 2025 Keel and I decided the only way to keep the store going was to apply for a second loan. Most of you have seen the new forklift, which we were able to purchase with the loan. Our old Clark forklift had definitely seen better days. We were also able to fill the shelves in some areas but not as much as we had hoped.
Keel and I both love being there, our kids have grown so much there, and we love having the store for the community. We know how much it means to so many people and to us. And I believe that is the hardest part of all this, feeling like we are letting the community down.
Last year you probably started seeing us everywhere. If we weren’t at the hardware store we would be at the grocery store. We did that because the hardware store wasn’t making enough for our personal bills at home. So working another job is what we have done, to make sure our family is ok.
We don’t want to see the hardware store go away, for many different reasons. And if you don’t know there is a problem, then you will never find the solution.
Katie, a member of our community, met me yesterday for coffee with some amazing ideas on how to turn the hardware store around. One idea was to get the community knowledgeable of our situation and how they can help. Here are some ways you can help.
One way you can help is to allow us the opportunity to order everything you need for an upcoming project. We may not have it on the shelf, but our supplier has a huge ordering catalog and we can have it to you in a week. That is a huge way to help.
Another way is to Please tell me what you go to town for every week? Please start giving us the opportunity to stock it for you. Our prices won’t compete with Ace, Bi-Mart, or Home Depot. You can probably find that same can of WD-40 for $2 bucks cheaper in town. I know this, and many of our customers tell me this. But those stores buy in bulk with better prices per item. And with freight prices increasing, new fuel surcharge fees, and overall cost of goods increasing, we will never be able to be cheaper than town. Convenience has to be worth something. Because isn’t it nice to only drive a few minutes for that .79 bolt or a .16 nut? We want to be here for you, so please help us continue to be.
Another way to help is that we are looking for a couple of trustworthy people who would like to donate a day at the hardware store, or even half a day. Even if we had a few people to donate one day a month, that would give us a little breather.
We are not giving up, and we will continue to go on day by day for as long as we can.
I will share more ideas as we brainstorm them. Please message me if you have ideas of your own. Like I said, we don’t want to see the hardware store go anywhere. Thanks for reading and please reach out if you have any questions.
-Lauren-

Hey Everyone,
Many of you know these two boys that have blessed our community in so many ways. They work hard at the country store, the hardware store, their local church and within their family.
Currently they are fundraising for an opportunity to attend the Mercy Flights Jamboree in Washington DC
!
Mark your calendars for May 23rd at the Ruch Community Church across from the Hardware store for a fundraising rummage sale. All proceeds will benefit the boys and their medical adventure.
If you have items you are interested in donating that you maybe had planned to take to the goodwill, consider donating here instead!
Contact Sam 5416591890 or Susie Hyde via FB and we can arrange pick up or drop off of items. Thank you!

Donations can also be dropped off at the hardware store 😃
