How to Find the Perfect Stone (for You)
In case you missed it in January's edition of Lake Country Neighbors, we'd like to share with you today! This article was written by our very own Meggan Mulkey, who enjoys sharing her knowledge & experiences:
😎Building a Room: Consider Contrast
Cabinets, Floor, Walls, Countertops...with infinite combinations, where does one begin!? Start with contrast, and keep it simple: Light, Medium, Dark. For example, “Light” engineered quartz countertops on “Medium” painted/stained cabinetry, with a “Dark” tile floor. Now you have a balanced frame of contrast to build up with color. When considering budget, start by making color selections on high value items first. Often, designers who visit our showroom come with one or two cabinet samples in hand to pair with stone, before they move onto flooring or wall color selections.
💡Ask All the Questions
There is a lot of misleading information floating around about what different types of stone can and cannot do. An experienced stone fabricator will be able to answer your questions and guide you (never tell you) towards the stone you’ll be most comfortable with. But you should also be comfortable with your stone fabricator’s practices, and the people hired to install stone in your home. Asking about lead times is important but also ask about who is coming into your home. A professional stone fabrication company will also have full-time installers on staff, paid per hour and covered by insurance – ensuring with peace of mind that the perfect stone for you has also been expertly installed by a company that cares.
