The complexity of the built environment poses numerous and evolving wayfinding and other accessibility challenges for pedestrians with vision disabilities. Tactile Walking Surface Indicators (TWSI) are one tool that can be used to improve accessibility and safety within public-rights-of-way. This webinar will cover existing requirements and will then aim to demonstrate the considerable research evidence that supports the recommendations for the design and use of TWSI.

What was the ADA Amendments Act of 2008?
The act broadened the definition of disability in the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). It stated that a "bodily function" is a life activity and gave examples. It also clarified the ADA prohibition of employment discrimination.

Will you be having a picnic this weekend?!

"Accessible Picnic Tables"
Remember that 5%, or at least one table, must be accessible. Which means:
Located on an accessible route with at least 36 inches of clearance surrounding the table.
Table height is between 28 and 34 inches above the ground.
Sufficient space to comfortably sit at the table. Provide knee clearance at least 30 inches wide with 27 inches of clearance underneath the table. Toe clearance must be at least 9 inches high and 17 inches deep.
