As of today, Extrude Hone has sold three ๐Ÿ‘ thermal deburring machines to Jiangsu Hengli Hydraulic Co., Ltd.. These machines deburr valve bodies and manifold parts, which are integrated into Hengli hydraulic systems ๐Ÿ’ช .

๐Ÿ“Œ Hengli Hydraulic is a listed company on the Shanghai Stock Exchange (stock code 601100), headquartered in Changzhou, China. The company was established in 1990. After over 30 years of focus and innovation, Hengli Hydraulic has developed from hydraulic cylinder manufacturing to a large-scale comprehensive enterprise integrating hydraulic components, precision castings, hydraulic systems, and other industries.

๐Ÿ“Œ Hengli has 8,000+ employees in multiple countries (China, Germany, the United States, Japan, and Mexico), working in 7 research and development centers and 11 manufacturing locations.
Hengli is a leader in various markets, including engineering and construction machinery, mining and extraction equipment, agricultural forestry and municipal vehicles, marine and hydraulic equipment, metallurgy and metal forming, and rubber and general technology.
Innovation is one of the core values at Hengli.

๐Ÿ“Œ In October 2024, Hengli celebrated the successful launch of the worldโ€™s most enormous self-developed piling barge luffing cylinder, which had a bore of 1.6 meters, 5000 tons of thrust, and a total length of 28 meters when retracted ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ’ช ๐Ÿ’ช .

We were delighted to be participating again this year as a recognized AMUG Conference panelist! ๐Ÿ‘ Thanks, Additive Manufacturing Users Group (AMUG)

A big thank you to Ray Amin, who is committed to sharing his knowledge of Extrude Hone technology with his peers, fellow engineers, and AM enthusiasts.

Sharing knowledge, explaining how things work โš™๏ธ, discussing challenges, and exchanging ideas ๐Ÿ’ก are excellent activities that support AMs' development ๐Ÿ’ช within the industry.

Would you also like to learn even more? We are always happy to organize a dedicated training session with your company or institution.

Hakan Toykoc, Ph.D. Outstanding achievement ๐Ÿ‘ ! Itโ€™s amazing to see such interest in AFM technology. Impressive developments are ahead of us, thanks to Hakan.
As Hakan said, this model could reasonably predict the media temperature, heat generation, and heat transfer in the AFM process. Hakan's team verified the prediction results against some experimental results that had previously been collected.
As heat has a huge influence on the viscosity and consequently the cutting impact, including the heat transfer-related dynamics directly into the CFD model will positively improve the process prediction. We are looking to implement that in Extrude Hone machines. We are always excited to deliver the best customer experience.
I encourage you to read the post from Hakan on LinkedIn and the original article available here:

Our second journal paper on the Abrasive Flow Machining ( ) process was published today! You can find the link to the paper below. https://rdcu.be/ebiOK This research revolves around the first-of-its-kind multi-physics simulation model we developed using the COMSOL, Inc. software. ๐Ÿ“ฃ Interested in Knee implant machining? Learn how Extrude Hone's ECM machining solution for the intercondylar box and cam beats CNC milling. ๐Ÿ‘ ECM reduces machining costs from 11 USD to 1.60 USD ๐Ÿ’ฐ .
๐Ÿ“Œ We packed all the information in a new webpage, including a superb new 3D animation ๐ŸŽฌ showing how we do this. You can find it here: https://www.extrudehone.com/industry/medical/knee-implants/
Electrochemical Machining (ECM) is a well-known process for productivity improvement.
๐Ÿ“Œ Above all, ECM shines because it can tackle hard-to-machine materials without batting an eyelid. Let's explore this further. CNC machining efficiency will decrease as the material becomes challenging. CoCr, a traditional material for knee implants, will represent a considerable challenge, drastically reducing CNC machining efficiency. The ECM machining efficiency for CoCr will drop slightly but remain seven times more efficient than CNC.
Regarding tool life, as ECM is a non-contact process that dissolves the material, the cathode lifetime will sustain cycle after cycle without needing replacement. In contrast, CNC machining requires multiple tool replacements for the same number of machined parts.
๐Ÿ“Œ We touch on productivity. You can process four knee implant boxes and cam areas simultaneously, achieving a cycle time of 90 seconds per part.
But that's not all.
๐Ÿ“Œ Quality?
You can count on a 0.55mm (0.022in.) material removal, dimension tolerances within 0.1mm (0.004in.), and parallelism within 0.05mm.
(0.002in.), and surface roughness below Ra 0.2ฮผm (8Ra ฮผin.) among the ECM machining achievements.
You do not need an extra finishing operation with ECM, as you simultaneously shape and finish the box and cam area.
That summarizes all the necessary information to encourage you to learn more if you are in knee implant machining.
