Tricon has partnered with ACS Industries on buckets for mining and aggregate operations. ACS manufactures new buckets and rebuilds worn ones for a variety of heavy equipment applications. Tricon supplies the wear steel for both.

That means a bucket comes back better than a standard rebuild would leave it. On a new build, it means Tri-Braze and Super-C go in where each excels: impact resistance where the bucket takes the hits, abrasion protection where material slides across it.

Hardness alone is easy to advertise. Getting it where it matters most is the harder part. Ultra Tech pipe runs 600 BHN on the inside and roughly 250 BHN on the outside, in one piece. Hard where the material rides, ductile and weldable where you have to attach it, and the bends come out of the same process as the straights.

Because it's a single wall of steel, you can check remaining thickness ultrasonically with the line still assembled. Ceramic and rubber lined pipe won't give you that. They can develop liner cracks and irregularities that increase turbulence and wear, while also being more difficult to inspect and measure wall thickness.

Don't forget that Tricon now stocks Domite wear products. Chocky bars, wear buttons and heel shrouds, with chrome white iron faces running past 700 Brinell on a mild steel backing. They weld on, which means protection goes exactly where the wear is highest. As the wear pattern shifts, the layout can shift with it.

October is Manufacturing Month, which is a great time to say something that doesn't get said often enough.

Everything we sell gets made by someone. The wear parts that show up on a customer's site were cut, welded, machined and inspected by people who have spent years learning to do it right. That kind of judgment isn't written down anywhere. It gets built over a career on the floor.
