Our Work Doesn’t End When the Machine Is Finished. 🚛

Developing and manufacturing a large-scale system requires . But every step that follows matters just as much.

Before a machine begins its journey to the customer, it must be professionally packaged, safely loaded, and carefully prepared for transport. Especially with large systems, precision, experience, and thorough planning are essential. After all, the result of our work should arrive at the customer just as safely as it leaves our production facility.

That’s why “everything from a single source” means more at IFSYS than just engineering and machine manufacturing: From design and in-house production to assembly, packaging, loading, and shipping, we accompany our systems throughout the entire process. 😊

And our support doesn’t stop after delivery. We are there for our customers during on-site installation and commissioning, as well as with service and spare parts supply. This ensures that our systems are commissioned reliably and continue to perform at their best over the long term.

An automated process doesn’t start with the robot; it starts with the right .

Our system demonstrates how components supplied in a disordered state are transformed, step by step, into a controlled material flow. From bulk material, the parts enter the sorting and orientation section, where they are reliably singulated, inspected, and precisely counted. Finally, they are transferred in a controlled manner to the downstream station for further processing. 💡

🔧 From a built in 2008 to a in 2024 – proven technology, further developed

This was originally developed and built in 2008 for steel inserts. Over many years, its robust design has proven itself in singulating, sorting, and correctly orienting small metal components. 🙌🏼

⚙️ In 2024, rather than building a new system, a targeted was carried out: the existing system was modernised and expanded to accommodate nine additional component variants.

The basic concept remained the same: single-type parts feeding without additional component inspection – supplemented by targeted mechanical and functional adjustments.

The retrofit included:
🔩 New interchangeable sorting rail for flexible component guidance
🔩 Optimized feeding conditions
📦 Increased storage capacity
🚧 Additional process monitoring
🔧 Optimised transfer position for defined orientation

The result:
✔ throughput of approx. 20 parts/min across all variants
✔ Consistent cycle time despite greater variety of variants
✔ Still 30 liters of storage capacit

An example of how existing systems can achieve sustainably higher performance through targeted further development – without the need for a completely new system.

Three types of parts, one – maximum with minimal changeover effort. 🚀

Small and delicate components place special demands on feeding technology, especially when, as in our example, the parts are only 0.3 mm thick.

With conventional slide solutions, there is a risk that the sensitive components may become jammed. That’s why this application uses a special serrated slider: it enables reliable transport without damaging the delicate parts. 🙌🏼

For this application, we use our step conveyor. A single feeding system processes three different types of parts with dimensions of approx. 4 to 7 mm and heights between 0.5 and 0.7 mm. 🫱🏼‍🫲🏽

Especially when handling soft and deformable materials, reliable feeding can be a real challenge.

For feeding large quantities of rubber rings, we use a drum feeder – an alternative to the classic step feeder when material properties such as deformability, sticking or static build-up place special demands on the process.

The solution delivers:

✅ Reliable separation despite sensitive elastomers
✅ Reduction in sticking and entanglement
✅ Control of static charge via ionized air
✅ Optimized transport conditions for reliable processes

Instead of Trial and Error 🚀

How reliably and efficiently a feeding system operates starts with correctly assessing the part itself. This assessment forms the basis for designing the system’s components.

A key factor is how the part behaves throughout the feeding process: Which orientation does it naturally favor? Where is its center of gravity? How can it be reliably singulated, and how can incorrectly oriented parts be efficiently rejected?

With our digital feeding technology, we simulate the entire process based on a 3D model of the part. This allows us to analyze part behavior, compare different approaches, and evaluate early in the project which system concept is most likely to deliver the best results.

The advantage: Complex test setups involving engineering, manufacturing, material costs, and personnel time can be reduced to a minimum. This saves time, lowers development costs, and provides greater planning certainty—all before the first part is manufactured or tested.

Because the best optimizations happen before reality begins.

That’s because we don’t measure ourselves against the competition on a daily basis, but rather against our customers' challenges.

One . Four lanes. Maximum efficiency. 🚀

High-volume production requires reliable and precise parts feeding. This is exactly what this 4-lane feeding system for was designed for.

Components are manually loaded into the hopper in a bulk, unorganized state. A step feeder transfers them to the 4-lane sorting and orientation section, where only correctly oriented parts proceed. Incorrectly oriented parts are automatically returned to the hopper to re-enter the process. 🫱🏼‍🫲🏽

The rivets are then fed into a 4-way separator. There, they are positioned with the collar facing down and the shank facing up. In addition, all four parts are radially aligned identically, allowing the customer’s robot to pick up 2, 3, or all 4 rivets synchronously and reliably, depending on the process.

The result: a continuous flow of parts, high process reliability, and a high-performance solution for automated manufacturing processes with high cycle rates.
