Farming comes with layers of stress – from legacy and uncontrollable weather to managing the daily pressures of running an operation.

This , INFB District 6 Director Jon Sparks opened up about his own journey with stress, anxiety and finding people he could trust during difficult times. His message is clear: you're not alone, and it's okay to ask for help.

2026 is the International Year of the Woman Farmer, making it the perfect time to reflect on the women who shaped Indiana Farm Bureau's history and opened doors for future generations.

It took two years after Indiana Farm Bureau's founding in 1919 for women to be welcomed as active participants. In March 1922, INFB President John G. Brown called for women to join "on the same terms as men," recognizing their vital contributions to farming and rural communities. Leaders like Edna Sewell, from Otterbein, helped shape the women's program and became the first woman elected to the INFB board of directors in 1925.

From rural education to community health initiatives, women have been driving Farm Bureau forward for over a century. Today, we honor that legacy and celebrate the women continuing to lead Indiana agriculture into the future!

New series alert! It's Terminology Tuesday – We're exploring ag terms that help tell the story of farming in Indiana.

Ever wonder about those large sprinkler systems you see in fields while driving by? It’s called a pivot, short for center pivot irrigation. In Indiana, these systems are used in areas with sandy soils where crops need extra water during summer months. The pivot rotates around a central point to evenly distribute water across the field, helping farmers efficiently manage water and support healthy crop growth. Stay tuned for more Terminology Tuesdays! πŸšœπŸ’§
