UPDATE 4-17-2024

New address is 4910 Karobar Dr, Indy 46218. Phone is the same as before 317.898.1931

We are still trying to get the new shop setup, equipment back up, staffed, and engines assigned to job tickets. Alot of you are asking questions we dont have answers to yet. We have most all engines, they will still need matched to build sheet to figure out whos is whos as the engine tags and original documentation was burnt in the fire. This is a lengthy process as we had over 300 builds going.

Dana is working to get everyone answers... we know you are out racing time and money. We are still working through this nightmare.

Also Dana cant access some of our social media as her computer and passwords were burnt as well. She cant see all comments and post please call the shop line to faster assistance.

UPDATE 3-22-2024

The machine shop will be back open hopefully on Monday, we have all but 10 engines that we still cant get to and may not be able to get to until the demo date for the building. (The Build room where Dave & Berto were and the back engine room that Junior was in arent accessible yet.) 90% of builds and parts have been retrieved from the building and in storage waiting to be moved into the new shop afew blocks away from our old-burnt down location. We will start accessing engines 10-12 at a time, on what damages they have and whats not damaged at all. Most engines so far from a visual inspection seems to be okay 👍 this is great news for the majority of our customers. The new shop should be open Tentatively a week from next Monday.

Please continue to be nice to us while we get everything setup at the new shop and job tickets matched to engine builds and parts.

Please have all payment info and build info ready to provide to Dana & Steve. Please try to work with us to ensure everyone is individually address, we know alot of you arent happy with this unfortunate situation.

Update 3-11-2024: We are waiting on the City of Indianapolis to grant demo permit for the building. (Please keep in mind SSRE was a tenant of the building owner, Steve sold the building afew years ago) Once we have that we can enter the race shop side of the building. Some parts and builds in the machine shop and other parts of the building have been deemed undamaged.
We dont have any other information at this on as far as the status of the builds affected by the fire, damage from roof caving in, or builds that have other damage to being open to the elements (water from fire hoses, rain or snow from no roof.) We will continue to speak with everyone as we know more, the shop line and email are both forwarded to Dana & Steve.

Update on Fire Damage - 2/21/24

The insurance and attorneys are in an agreement on a tentative demolition date of March 4th or 5th, to remove the collapsed portion of the roof so that we can safely enter the building after that. Once they start the demo process we will be able to enter the building and start making assessments on damage to builds. Please continue to be patient with this process as its out of our hands until we are granted access to the building. Its currently deemed unsafe to enter the race shop side of the building.

Update to all Steve Schmidt Competition Engine Customers - We still are not allowed in the building, cops are still onsite securing the building. The roof collapsed due to the fire causing the fork truck to exposed. This may be weeks before structural engineers allow us back in the building if at all, the building may have to be partially demo'd or reinforced for us to re-enter to make any kind of assessments. I know that many of you have spoke w/ Steve or Dana already. We are looking for a temporary location to lease in the next coming weeks so we can get re-open, this is out of our hands. We have had the shop phone line transferred to Dana directly so we can keep everyone updated. This is an unfortunate situation we are doing our best to work to answer everyone's questions and provide you everything we know as we know it. We understand that everyone wants to know if their builds are okay and at this time we don't have any updates. Please be kind to our employees as they are working to collect your information so we can address you on an individual basis when the time comes. We are currently without a shop and our employees are without work, we understand your frustration and are doing our best to keep you informed.

Thank you to all Steve Schmidt Competition Engines customers most of you have been very compassionate during this unfortunate fire. We are still waiting to be allowed in the building to assess the damage, we will address everyone individually once its deemed safe to enter the building. This process could take another week hopefully sooner. We are at the mercy of the fire department and waiting to see if the building is structurally sound to re-enter without being partially demo'd. We have most everyones contact information and build info, please continue to DM us if you haven't already. We are working to follow-up with everyone, we had about 300+ engine builds going please be patient as we try to speak with everyone. We will keep you posted as we know our next step in the near future.

ATTENTION ALL STEVE SCHMIDT COMPETITION ENGINES CUSTOMERS - As some of you may know we have had a pretty major fire early this morning!

The Machine shop is undamaged from the fire. We will have more information in a couple days and we're in the process of renting a building now to move our engine building to another facility and hope to be up and working in the next 10 days or less, the machine shops will stay at the present location and if they get the power back on tomorrow, they'll be back open tomorrow, it looks to us like possibly it was an electrical fire that started in the corner of the building but the fire department is working to let us know exactly what happen after they do their analysis! For customers that are waiting on builds please send a DM with your Full Name, Build Information and Contact information so that we can individually address everyone that had builds possibly effected by the fire.
