If your AC isn’t cooling like it should, here are a few common things that could be going on:
1. Dirty air filter – This is the most common one. If airflow is restricted, your system can’t move enough air to cool your house properly.
2. Low refrigerant – If your system is low, it usually means there’s a leak somewhere. You’ll notice weak cooling or warm air coming through the vents.
3. Bad capacitor – This is what helps your system start and run. If it’s going out, your unit might struggle to turn on, shut off randomly, or just not cool right.
4. Outdoor unit issues – If your condenser is dirty, blocked, or not running right, it won’t be able to release heat, which kills your cooling.
5. Thermostat or electrical problems – Sometimes it’s as simple as a bad thermostat, wiring issue, or something not getting power like it should.
