Rain, wind, and spooky skies couldn't keep us away from the City of East Chicago's EC Hallow Trunk-or-Treat Event! BF&S and the East Chicago Stormwater Inspector had a great time spending the evening with residents, handing out candy to a steady stream of ghouls, goblins, superheroes, princesses, and even a few skeletons.

A big thank you to the City Parks & Recreation Department for organizing another fantastic community event, and to all City departments that helped make the evening a success. We loved being part of the Halloween fun and connecting with the community!

Cutting the ribbon on Clinton County Bridge 21! Congratulations to Clinton County, Indiana and everyone who helped bring this project to completion. This milestone reflects the teamwork, planning, and hard work behind an investment in the county’s transportation network!

We had a great time with Purdue University’s First-Year Engineering students at their annual industry night alongside ACEC Indiana and other engineering firms. Students could speak one-on-one with engineers from a variety of disciplines such as agricultural, mechanical, and (the best!) civil before they apply to their engineering-specific major later this year. Discussions ranged from what civil engineers do in their day-to-day work, what internships look like, and what skills students should intentionally grow before entering the professional workforce. It was a joy to spend time with the next generation of engineers!

Join us in congratulating John Feister, PE, and John Lightner, PE, PMP, on their promotions to Department Head!

John Feister will lead our Aviation Department, building on his experience as Aviation Production Manager overseeing project delivery, supporting client relationships, and coordinating staff.

John Lightner will lead our Program Management Department, bringing a strong background in managing complex, multidisciplinary programs.

Both will guide their teams’ continued growth while remaining actively involved in key projects and client relationships. We’re excited to see their leadership help shape what’s next for BF&S!

Utility coordination plays a key role in keeping transportation projects moving. Last week, Kevin Hintz, our Utility Coordination Department Head, joined a panel at the ITT Greenfield event and presented “UC Success Stories,” sharing examples of how proactive coordination and collaboration help projects succeed.

Our BF&S team enjoyed hitting the course last week for Par for Parks in support of The Parks Alliance of Indianapolis and its work to connect resources to the needs of Indy’s parks and public spaces. Thanks to The Parks Alliance for bringing everyone together for a fun day on the greens!
