Brian’s in Tulsa. He’s got metals suppliers right there in town. He bought from us in Indianapolis anyway.

The reason he gave: customer service and support. That’s it. Not price, not proximity. The fact that when he called, somebody who knew the material picked up and helped him get exactly what he needed.

We’ll take that trade every time. Ship a little farther, answer the phone a little better.

Got a load heading out to Jacksonville today, and from there it’s off to Puerto Rico. Which is a good reminder that “anywhere” really does mean anywhere.

People sometimes assume a specialty metals supplier only ships regionally, or that getting tube and bar across an ocean is a headache not worth the trouble. AED has been shipping domestically and overseas for years, and we’ve got the export experience in-house to handle the paperwork, packaging, and logistics that trip most people up. Need round tube bent to a specific radius? Boyce Industries does that every day in aluminum, steel, 4130 chromoly, and Docol. We hold +/- .5 degrees on the bend angle, whether it's a standard 90 or a custom angle.

For tight-radius work, our mandrel bending supports the tube from the inside, so it comes out clean with no collapsing, wrinkling, or flattening. We also do the finishing work that makes a part fit. End forming expands or reduces the ends for a clean slip-fit, and bead rolling adds raised beads that hold hoses and clamps in place.

Those details keep your parts out of the scrap pile.

Some visitors drive a long way to say thanks.

This week, engineering students from Universidad La Salle Bajío made the trip from Guanajuato, Mexico to stop by our shop in Indianapolis.

The second photo is why it meant so much. That's their Baja SAE car, #67, and its frame started as tube sitting on our racks. They designed it, cut it, welded it, and raced it. We just supplied the metal.

That's the best part of this business: watching raw material leave our dock and come back as a finished race car built by the next generation of engineers.

Thanks to the whole La Salle Bajío crew for making the trip. Our door is always open, and good luck this season! 🏁

Labor Day's in the rearview. Trucks are rolling, saws are running, phones are ringing.

If you buy steel, here's what we're watching heading into 2027.

Based on what we're hearing from the mills, the tight supply and higher pricing we've all dealt with this year look likely to continue. Some items may be harder to get, and we expect prices to stay elevated.

The best thing you can do right now: get us your 2027 forecast as early as you can. The more we know about what you'll need, the better we can plan inventory and lock in material before it gets scarce.
