Industrial-quality deionized water is important for manufacturing because it is a supply of completely demineralized water. Deionization (DI) removes all total dissolved solids (TDS) and minerals from the water to produce pure water. Other methods, such as reverse osmosis or nanofiltration, may greatly lower your TDS and be suitable for some applications, but industrial deionizers are designed to take your TDS to zero. To understand the difference between industrial reverse osmosis and industrial filtration based ultrapure water processes (nanofiltration, ultrafiltration, and microfiltration) lies in an understanding of total dissolved solids (TDS) and total suspended solids (TSS). There are some substances that can be removed from water by an ultrafiltration method. These removable substances are considered total suspended solids (TSS) as they are suspended particles in the water. Total dissolved solids (TDS) are the remaining substances that pass through the filter. Learn more today.

How do you calculate the size of an industrial water softener? The calculations from our general water softener calculator can be used as a rough guide to determine the proper industrial water softener size for your application. If you need information about your water to complete the calculator, note that we offer free basic water testing to qualified engineers and industrial, commercial, and healthcare organizations. We also offer specialized water softener size calculators for healthcare facilities or hotels.

Are salt-free industrial water softeners as effective as industrial water softeners that use salt? Does this non-sodium industrial water softening approach provide suitable water for industrial processes? The short answer is no, a salt-free water softener is not recommended for industrial water uses such as power generation, pharmaceutical production, food & beverage manufacturing, and boiler feeds.
