The Highland Group is thrilled to announce that they have been contracted by the City of Huntsville and Von Braun Board of Control to renovate a section of the Propst Arena of the Von Braun Center. The construction will be underway by January and is expected to be completed by October 2021.
The Von Braun Center (VBC) is Huntsville’s centrally located premier multipurpose facility that accommodates conventions, sporting events, concerts, and many of the city’s other events. The Propst Arena is a 8,000-seat multi-tiered arena that hosts many of the events such as the Huntsville Havoc. The City of Huntsville and the Von Braun Board of Control have employed The Highland Group as the general contractor who will be working in partnership on the project with the Matheny Goldmon Architecture + Interiors, Engineers Mullins, Inc., PEC Structural Engineering, Inc., and SSOE Group
The complete project will include 4,800 sq. ft. of new construction and 8,200 sq. ft. of renovation. Renovations will include the locker rooms, restrooms, and training areas. The project is particularly special to our project manager, Michael Barnes, who grew up using the VBC facilities for his youth hockey league. “We are dedicated to executing a terrific product for the City of Huntsville and all those that use and enjoy the space” said Barnes.
