A-P-T Research, Inc. (Analysis, Planning, Test Research, or "APT") is an employee-owned, small business based in Cummings Research Park, Huntsville, Alabama. APT provides professional engineering services in a variety of disciplines including systems engineering, risk assessment and analysis, test planning, range safety, system safety, software system safety, explosives safety, industrial and quality engineering, quality assurance, mission assurance, Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V), software development and modeling, and related areas. APT currently supports more than 50 customers of which approximately 40 are government agencies. APT Research is hiring three safety engineers in Dahlgren, VA.

We’re looking for engineers with Navy combat systems experience and a working knowledge of MIL-STD-882 to identify and mitigate hazards in safety-critical hardware and software systems. All three roles are mostly off-site, with on-site customer meetings.

Open positions:
- Senior Software Safety Engineer (8+ years)
- System Safety Engineer (6–12 years)
- Senior System Safety Engineer (12+ years)

Each role requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program and a SECRET clearance or higher.

Another successful Super Large Scale Gap Test (SLSGT) is in the books.

APT Research, in collaboration with N2L, recently completed testing to support Interim Hazard Classification for rocket motors.

The SLSGT helps determine whether solid propellant detonates (Hazard Division 1.1) or deflagrates (Hazard 1.3), providing critical data to support the safe storage, transportation, and fielding of rocket motors.

As the defense industrial base accelerates mu*****ns production, understanding energetic material behavior remains essential to managing risk and supporting mission readiness.
