Boil Water Rescind Notice

On May 30, 2026 the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) required our public water system, the City of Huntington Public Water System ID # 0030002, to issue a Boil Water Notice (BWN) to inform our customers that due to a drop in system pressure to below 20 psi, water from our system must be boiled prior to consumption.

Our system has taken the necessary corrective actions to restore adequate pressure, disinfectant levels, and/or bacteriological quality and has provided TCEQ with testing results that indicate that the water no longer requires boiling as of June 2, 2026. If you have any questions concerning this matter, you may contact Shane Price at 936-414-9510.

If a customer wishes to reach TCEQ, they may call 512-239-4691.

Boil Water Notice for Community Public Water Systems
May 30, 2026

Due to water main break, and distribution pressure getting below 20 psi, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has required the City of Huntington public water system, 0030002, to notify all customers to boil their water prior to consumption (e.g., washing hands/face, brushing teeth, drinking, etc). Children, seniors, and persons with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria, and all customers should follow these directions).
To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes.
In lieu of boiling, individuals may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source for drinking water or human consumption purposes.
When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, the public water system officials will notify customers that the water is safe for drinking water or human consumption purposes.
Once the boil water notice is no longer in effect, the public water system will issue a notice to customers that rescinds the boil water notice in a manner similar to this notice.
Please share this information with all the other people who drink this water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly (for example, people in apartments, nursing homes, schools, and businesses). You can do this by posting this notice in a public place or distributing copies by hand or mail.

If you have questions concerning this matter, you may contact Shane Price, utilities superintendent, at 936-414-9510.

Thanks to our crews for their hard work in getting the 6” main break repaired. They worked from 7:00 pm until almost 2:00 am getting water service restored. We are blessed to have them! Cliff Faires, Aron Gillikin, Caleb Prough, Steven Simoneaux, Fred Bautista, & Jared Bryan. You guys rock!!

Update: Crews are still on scene and it will probably be at least a couple more hours before the break is fixed. We are working as quickly and as efficiently as possible to get it back on for y’all. Thanks for your patience!

As you’ve probably noticed in the last little bit we have had to shut the city’s water supply off for the short term. We have a major water leak and a minor water leak, both of which are being addressed at this time. Once water is restored, it will be necessary to boil water for consumption until further notice as a precaution. Our PSI (water pressure) has dropped below the recommended level and necessitates this boil water action. We will keep you updated as things are repaired and service has been restored. Thank you!
