Perfect Point is changing the way structural maintenance is performed in the 21st century with the E-Drill, a smarter way to remove fasteners.

Perfect Point’s patented handheld electro discharge machining (EDM) technology removes the hardest fasteners quickly and easily. The precision sized electrode cuts a circular groove of material from the fastener head leaving a very thin fracture point between the electrode and the airframe. The exact sizing of the electrode coupled with precision depth control greatly decreases the risk of airfram

e damage when compared to conventional removal methods. A closed- loop fluid system, consisting of filtered water, flushes the area and removes cut debris. Aggressive flushing during the cut means no heat is transferred to the surrounding area. The forceless cut process significantly reduces the risk of damage to the airframe and repetitive motion injury to the operator. Reduced damage, fast cycle times, and elimination of debris result in efficiencies that mean a very quick return on investment.

Not your typical aircraft mechanic!

At the NCMS Sustainment Accelerator, Emily, age 5, gave E‑Drill a try (under very close supervision) — and she had no problem removing a fastener on her first try.

Of course, we’re not handing maintenance contracts to kids anytime soon, but it was a fun way to show just how easy E-Drill makes fastener removal. Instead of years of building up the skill (and nerves) to drill out a fastener by hand, anyone can learn to do it safely and precisely in minutes.

Thanks to Jared Wright and his family for stopping by and making our day — we might have even sparked a future interest in aerospace!

What an incredible week at the 2025 Aerospace Maintenance Competition! The atmosphere was buzzing with talent and teamwork.

A big shoutout to our champions:

🏅 American Airlines – Team Line took the top spot with a blazing time of 2:07
🎓 SMLE led the school teams, finishing in 2:26

Each competitor tackled the E-Drill event, removing five titanium Hi-Loks from a jet inlet with precision.
