This article provides a basic introduction to well intervention and its importance in Venezuela’s oil industry.
Venezuela has a large number of existing oil wells that are not producing at their full potential. Instead of drilling new wells, companies can use well intervention techniques to restore and improve production in a faster and more cost-effective way.

What is Well Intervention?
Well intervention refers to any operation performed on a well to maintain or improve its performance during its life.
These operations help:
* Increase production
* Fix problems inside the well
* Extend the life of existing assets

Common Techniques Used in Venezuela
Some of the most common techniques include:
* Wireline: used to collect data from inside the well
* Slickline: used for simple mechanical operations
* Coiled Tubing: used for cleaning and pumping fluids
* Workover: used for major repairs

In this edition, we focus on Coiled Tubing.
What is Coiled Tubing?
Coiled tubing is a long, flexible pipe that is inserted into the well from a reel.
It is used to:

In simple terms, it works like a strong industrial hose used to clean and repair the well from the inside.
