EHRA Engineering is proud to be a partner in the Lakes of Cane Island, a residential development located north of Morton Road and just north of Cane Island, spanning roughly 220 acres. While the finished community will ultimately include approximately 12 sections and 540 homes, the construction effort has presented a wide range of challenges, including significant de-mucking during mass grading and complex utility crossings.

When I think about what has shaped my career in construction, I don’t think first about projects, schedules or budgets. I think about people.

My career took an unexpected turn when I graduated from North Carolina A&T State University with a degree in Architectural Engineering. I originally wanted to pursue architectural engineering, but a last-minute internship in Hartford, Connecticut, introduced me to civil engineering and project management. What started as an opportunity became a career.

We had a great time last weekend with the ASCE Houston Branch at the AIA Sandcastle Competition! This competition is one of the top five revenue-generating events for the City of Galveston. On the day of the event, the teams meticulously sculpt their piles of sand and work non-stop. The judging of the sculptures is rated on the originality of concept, artistic ex*****on, technical difficulty, carving technique and utilization of the site.
