Beyond the maneuverability benefits - a towboat with Z-drives replaces the propeller, shaft, stern tube, marine gear, rudder and steering gear greatly reducing the required machinery space and weight, thus increasing the usable volume and payload of the vessel. The need for propeller shaft alignment is eliminated. Towboats with Z-drives are not significantly more expensive than conventional towboats. The initial cost of the Z-Drives is significantly offset by reduced construction costs and installation man-hours.

Thrustmaster of Texas, INC. recently hosted the 2015 Annual Marine Technology Society (MTS) BBQ. The 2015 MTS BBQ was a colossal success. The primary purposes for the MTS BBQ were to raise money for student scholarships in the marine studies and to promotes education and awareness of technology and businesses for students, marine scientists, engineers, and technicians. This year a record breaking 720 professionals and students attended the annual event with more than 100 marine industry exhibitors displaying at the impressive Thrustmaster factory.

Thrustmaster is very proud to be a part of MTS and pleased to be able to give back to the community through this tremendous event.
