Last week, DNOW’s RAD (Retain, Attract, Develop) organization was honored to host Jim Crane (President & Owner of the Houston Astros and Crane Worldwide Logistics), who shared with us what defines success and how to truly “Run Stronger” as a cohesive team.
Mr. Crane gave us many valuable takeaways, including:
✅ Speed Wins Every Time
“Speed is your friend.” Making decisions quickly, moving with purpose, and acting before uncertainty creates drag is critical — especially during mergers, change, and growth.
✅ Take Care of Your People
Retaining top talent means knowing your people, investing in them, and treating them well. Strong teams stay when leaders lead by example and genuinely value those who create results.
✅ Leadership Lessons Apply Across Every Industry
Whether in logistics, sports, or business, the fundamentals don’t change: communication, accountability, chemistry, and trust drive performance under pressure.
✅ Resilience, Risk, and Belief in Yourself Matter
Success comes from managing opportunity, betting on yourself, learning from setbacks, and shaping what’s in front of you into a clear goal. Luck may play a role, but preparation and conviction matter more.
A huge THANK YOU to Mr. Crane for his invaluable insights and honesty - helping the entire DNOW team achieve even greater heights!
And we also want to thank DNOW’s RAD program for hosting this event. RAD provides a dedicated avenue to exercise professional growth, gain perspective, dig deeper into the foundations of our company, and promote inclusive thought. Because we believe an investment in our team is an investment in our current and future success!
