Happy National Infrastructure Week!

Rinker Materials was represented by John Susong, Bruce Spatz, and Craig Ramsey at the Transportation Construction Coalition (TCC) Fly-In in Washington, D.C.

This event provided a valuable opportunity to meet with Representative Sharice Davids, Representative Dave Taylor, and Representative Tim Burchett to discuss the critical importance of strengthening America’s infrastructure and advancing policies that support long-term investment in our nation’s transportation systems.

The conversations focused on the role concrete plays in building the nation’s infrastructure and the importance of the roadway authorization and surface transportation reauthorization bill as a foundation for sustained infrastructure development across the country. Continued federal support is essential to ensuring safe, reliable, and resilient infrastructure for communities nationwide. Concrete products help deliver durable infrastructure designed to withstand fire, flood, and other natural disasters. Unlike many alternative materials, concrete is non-combustible and plays a vital role in critical roadways, bridges, and emergency evacuation routes that communities depend on during times of crisis. These resilient solutions are essential to Building America Stronger.

These investments are about people, protecting families, improving safety, and ensuring that every community has access to dependable roads and infrastructure during both everyday use and emergency situations.

It was an honor to advocate for the concrete and transportation construction industries and to reinforce the importance of infrastructure investment that supports economic growth, public safety, and national resilience.

We appreciate the opportunity to engage in these important discussions and remain committed to supporting policies that strengthen America’s infrastructure for generations to come.

Rinker Materials played a key role in the largest public works infrastructure project in Nevada history. Project NEON upgraded a 3.7-mile stretch of I-15 to improve safety, traffic flow, and flood mitigation in the Las Vegas Valley.

Using reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) and mega reinforced concrete box culverts (MRCB) with custom fittings, our durable precast components handled massive stormwater volumes, protecting streets and highways from flash floods. Rinker’s locally produced precast culverts allowed the project to stay on schedule, minimized traffic closures, and supported complex S-shaped layouts.

With 63 lane miles paved, 29 bridges built, and over 10 miles of drainage improvements, Project NEON set a new benchmark in design-build infrastructure. The project earned Top Road Construction Project by Roads & Bridges magazine (2019) and the American Concrete Pipe Association Project Achievement Award.

Rinker Materials continues to deliver resilient solutions for high-impact infrastructure projects.

What is one of the hardest-working parts of a city that most people never see? The infrastructure beneath our feet.

From storm sewers and culverts to sanitary sewer systems, Reinforced Concrete Pipe (RCP) plays a major role in keeping communities safe, clean, and functioning every day. It helps manage stormwater, reduce flooding, move wastewater, and support roadways and site development.

Built to handle heavy traffic loads, harsh weather, and large volumes of water, RCP is trusted because of its strength, reliability, and proven lifespan of more than 100 years. In fact, some concrete pipe systems installed in the 1800s are still in use today.

At Rinker Materials, we know strong infrastructure starts underground. That is why we are proud to provide durable, long-lasting solutions that help build stronger communities for generations to come.

Rinker Materials proudly partnered with the City of Flagstaff on a critical flood mitigation project after the 2022 Pipeline Fire. The fire burned 26,523 acres and re-burned the 2010 Schultz Fire scar in Coconino National Forest, leading to repeated flooding that threatened homes, businesses, and critical roadways throughout the Flagstaff area.

By utilizing precast reinforced concrete box culverts, our team helped protect infrastructure along US Highway 180 while supporting long-term community resilience. Concrete was selected not only for its durability and strength, but also for its resilience in extreme environmental conditions, including fire-related impacts and post-wildfire flooding. This project highlights the importance of resilient infrastructure solutions that can continue performing in areas vulnerable to both wildfire damage and severe stormwater events.

As the first project to use this new standard, Ardurra, J. Banicki Construction, ADOT, and the City of Flagstaff saw the benefits of precast drainage products firsthand—from detailed engineering and in-plant quality control to the strong, durable design built into this long-awaited local standard. It’s another great example of how collaboration and innovation are helping shape the future of infrastructure in Arizona.

At Rinker Materials, safety is more than a priority—it’s a core value that guides every decision we make. As construction season ramps up in April, it’s the perfect time to refocus on work zone awareness, trench safety, PPE, equipment inspections, and safe work practices across every jobsite.

Rinker’s President, Adam Disbrow, highlighted the value of our people:
“What sets our company apart is the exceptional people who work here. Our customers frequently express that their employees are their most valuable asset as well. The safety of our team members and the public is non-negotiable—it is an expectation. No task is so urgent or important that it cannot be performed safely.”

Every employee plays a role in creating a safer work environment. By staying alert, looking out for one another, and committing to safety every day, we continue building stronger teams, safer jobsites, and better communities.

🌐 Keep traffic flowing!
Trenchless technology continues to play a critical role in modern infrastructure by enabling the installation of underground systems with minimal surface disruption.
Reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) and box culverts are well-suited for these applications, offering the strength and durability required to withstand jacking forces and long-term service conditions. Methods such as pipe jacking, micro-tunneling, and jack and bore allow for efficient installation beneath roadways, rail lines, and utilities.
The result is reduced impact on the public, improved project efficiency, and reliable long-term performance.
