At BGE, we’re proud to celebrate the growth of our people, and few stories capture that spirit better than John Tobeck’s. After beginning his career in the culinary world, John made a bold pivot into geospatial technology, ultimately becoming one of our most skilled lidar specialists.

Since joining BGE in 2022, John has played a key role in strengthening our lidar program, helping establish the workflows, standards, and technical foundation that support our survey operations today. His recent professional lidar certification further elevates our ability to deliver accurate, high‑quality data and pursue more advanced, technology‑driven projects.

John is also contributing to BGE’s exploration of automation and AI, ensuring the data behind emerging tools is precise, reliable, and ready for next‑generation processing.

His journey reflects what we value most at BGE — curiosity, continuous improvement, and a supportive environment where people can grow and innovate. We’re excited for what John will help us build next.

During a recent week of service, a group of nine employees from our Charlotte office participated in an environmental cleanup effort focused on supporting the health Charlottes' local waterways.

Through the Charlotte‑Mecklenburg Stormwater Services Adopt‑A‑Stream program, the team conducted a cleanup of our assigned stream segment near the office, removing debris and improving water quality and ecosystem health in the surrounding area.

This initiative reflects BGE’s ongoing dedication to strengthening the communities where we live and work. Through hands‑on involvement and collaborative service, our employees continue to demonstrate the values that guide our organization. While the effort was rooted in environmental responsibility, the team also appreciated the opportunity to connect with one another, with a few donuts adding to the camaraderie.

Yesterday, our BGE team had the opportunity to host our client, Brookfield Properties, for a hands‑on look at the systems that keep Elyson community running.

Despite a muddy site after the rain, Melinda Salazar, Kyle Jakubik, PE, Kenyon Hunt, Carmen Arizmendi, Zach Kawkins, Phillip Courtois, and Marissa Tulio, PE, toured the wastewater treatment plant with Kenyon and the SI Environmental operations team — offering a rare, behind-the-scenes view of the infrastructure supporting Elyson’s continued growth.

BGE is proud to announce the appointment of Rodney R. Heisch, PE, as Chief Corporate Officer, and Michael H. Garrison, PE, as Chief Operating Officer — a strategic step that strengthens our leadership structure and positions the firm for long‑term growth.

Rodney Heisch brings more than 38 years of experience and a deep understanding of BGE’s operations and culture. As our inaugural CCO, he will oversee human resources, enterprise technology, and marketing & communications, ensuring our internal systems scale with our people and our vision.

Mike Garrison steps into the role of COO with over 37 years of industry experience and a proven record of operational leadership. He will guide firm‑wide operational strategy, enhance financial resilience, and drive consistency in project delivery across all regions.

These appointments reflect BGE’s commitment to building a strong, future‑focused leadership pipeline. President & CEO Randy Randermann, PE, shared, “Rodney and Mike bring deep experience, cultural alignment, and a genuine commitment to our people. Nothing brings our Houston Region together quite like our annual summer picnic at the Houston Zoo. It was the perfect backdrop to unwind, laugh, and reconnect.
