Wheelie Series Pt. 2: Wheelie Pop-Ups

This is the move you’ll use in real life transitions—cracks, small thresholds, grass → pavement, etc. Goal: lift your casters just a little while you keep moving.

Save this for later + tell us what transition gives you the most trouble.

Emerson wearing a black sleeveless shirt, patterned shorts, a black cap, and sunglasses rolls up in a manual wheelchair next to the lounge chair. On-screen text reads, “Transferring to a Lounger.” He lines his wheelchair up close, then transfers from the wheelchair onto the lounge chair. On-screen text changes to, “Pull legs to side of lounge chair.” Sitting on the lounger, he lifts and pulls his legs up onto the chair and turns them to the side until he’s fully positioned on the lounger. At the end, he’s back in his wheelchair next to the lounge chair, facing the camera and giving a thumbs up.

Two ways to get up a steep slope in a manual chair:
Turn around + pull your way up (more control, less wheel slip)
Knees-to-chest short strokes… and commit.
Which one are you using?
