Hot Springs Village is a recognized Firewise community, and the county is under a burn ban. This is a good week to look at what covers the ground around your house.
Our local fire chief recommends clearing brush and dry grass from around your home. The fallen pine needles that cover so many Village yards should go too, because embers and small flames ignite most homes during a wildfire.
The NFPA Firewise guide splits the ground around a home into zones that reach out 100 feet and more. The first 5 feet should hold nothing that can burn, and the zones past that call for less fuel on the ground.
A gravel yard gives you that ground, because gravel does not burn. It also ends the mowing, and the yard stays neat all year.
Village Precision Pros installs full gravel yards and refreshes older ones that have filled in with needles and debris. Call 501-340-0711 to set up a visit.
