Monday Memories....early picture of one of the Dorland Schools dormitories now renovated and a vacation rental. If you can look at all the details surrounding the house, it gives some clues to a changing town landscape. The Gentry's owned a house on the corner of Hill and Walnut at one time and by looking at this picture- there is a house there! We can only use our imagination sometimes to fill in the gaps!

Hot Springs Throwback Thursday....over the next few Thursdays, we will be highlighting some of the folks that helped shape Hot Springs history. Maude Gentry Long-daughter of Jane Hicks & Jasper Gentry, wife of Grover Long, mother to Jane Long and Aunt Maude to Keith! She was a student at Dorland School, a teacher and more importantly she carried on the Jacktails and southern Ballads from her mother. They are recorded with the Library of Congress. She also taught piano to many of our residents right at Sunnybank which she owned after her father and mother passed away. Her granddaughter, Darren Douglas, continues to keep the tradition going today through her music.
