Gentry Hardware Old time Hardware Store - Independently owned and operated Family owned and operated old fashioned hardware store since 1946.

Located on the Appalachian Trail and built by owner Keith Gentry's grandfather and father with rock from just over the state line in Tennessee. Hardware floors, glass windows and old doors are from the Dorland School dormatories and date back to the early 1900's!

Today was a pivotal one! With the help of our friend Sonja, we got the antiques that will eventually be displayed in the front window off the floor and the tool cart moved to the front (a temporary spot) so we could set the kitchen/homegood display racks. What you see on these racks is not where these items will live but we sure are getting closer! Lots of cleaning, pricing and display work to do but we will get there!

Day 3 of Helene Flood recovery honors:
Ken Wilbanks......what could anyone in this town do without Ken and his family? He and his red tractor was here immediately and also facilitated donations from all over the country not just for Gentry's but for others as well. Additionally, there were many individuals (Edgar C., Shane S., Silas V. just to name a few) who showed up with their equipment during the initial couple of weeks that we don't have pictures of, who made a huge difference for our towns clean up.

Day 3 of Helene Flood honors......Elissa and Tim Humphries along with Elissa's parents, Roy & Elizabeth Hurley (I do not have a picture of them), were some of the first to jump in and get dirty. Additionally, they donated a huge shed for us to use for storage of the thousands of items being pulled out of the mud inside the store once they were cleaned. Additionally, Tim's Mom, Rebecca, brought tons of snacks, sandwiches and donated a laptop!

In honor of all those residents and hundreds of volunteers that helped to put our store and town back together after the Hurricane Helene flood nearly two years ago, we will be posting pictures each day of them to highlight our recovery! We are extremely thankful to "ALL" to has helped in any way (physically, donations, spiritually or just a kind word of engagement).
