Yesterday was the worst day of my life. We lost my dear ol Dad. It was sudden and we didn't see it coming.
Some of you may not know this, but around 2002, we almost lost my Dad then too. He was on Hospice care and given about 2 weeks to live. Kris, Mom and I called family and his siblings to come down and say their goodbyes along with Grandpa Fred and Grandma Margaret. They all came down and said goodbye and it was a sad day.... A few weeks later Mom called Hospice and asked them to come get all their equipment from the house.... Hospice offered condolences... But Mom said "Oh no, he actually got better And doesn't need it anymore.... The hospice staff said that has never happened before.
My Dad was the sweetest kindest person I knew. I took notice to that in my late teens and early 20s. He was always in a great mood, and always had that perfect smile for everyone he saw.
I knew I wanted to be like him even as an adult I wanted to be like my Dad. He was my rock, my best friend and the best Dad I could have ever had. I got to work with my best friend for over 20 years every single day. It was an amazing time. It doesn't make this any easier but I cherished each day knowing we got some bonus years with him. He told me that he loved me and he was proud of me one day. and I told him I loved him too. That day on highway 55 driving into Boise we both knew we said what we needed to say to each other and we both knew we understood.
We lost our pillar yesterday and it's not going to be an easy road. But knowing the kindest human I've ever known was my Dad, fills me with joy and honor.
