We take breakfast seriously at GRLA. 🍳🥓

Our Annual May Breakfast is one of those traditions that reminds us what 50 years is really built on: great people, strong connections, and a little bit of friendly competition at the griddle.

From pancakes to perfectly timed bacon, this crew shows up for each other just as much as they do for our clients.

Here’s to good food, good company, and a team that makes it all happen—every day.

| Measuring the Journey

At 20 years, we celebrated with a cake that was very on-brand… complete with an architectural scale.

Fast forward to 50 years—
Still building. Still evolving. Still delivering.

To mark the milestone, we’re going a step further with “50 for 50”—50 acts of service to give back to the communities that have shaped us.

Because what we build matters… and so does how we show up.

Here’s to 50 years of GRLA—and everything still ahead.

Happy Earth Day! OUR POWER, OUR PLANET™

“When we started GRLA, sustainability wasn’t a trend or a checklist—it was common sense. We were responding to real challenges, thinking carefully about energy, materials, and performance. To see that same mindset not only endure, but evolve and strengthen over 50 years, is incredibly rewarding. It’s become part of who we are as a firm,” Scott Richardson, GRLA Principal and Co-founder.

This Earth Day offers an opportunity to reflect—not just on where we’ve been, but on how thoughtful, sustainable design continues to shape a more resilient future for our clients and communities. It all starts here.

In Hopkinton’s first mile, where the energy builds, the nerves settle, and months of preparation turn into something unforgettable.

We’re proud to be part of this one-of-a-kind tradition with our Marathon banner along the route—cheering on every runner as they begin the journey to Boston.

Wishing all participants a strong start and an even stronger finish.

Preserving history takes more than a careful eye—it takes getting up close.

Our Building Envelope Sciences team is currently assessing the exterior envelope systems at Nantucket's historic Jared Coffin House and adjacent buildings. Pictured here is BES technician Jayson Schlosser coordinating slate shingle removal for evaluation.

Originally constructed circa 1845 and recognized as one of the island’s first grand mansions, this landmark demands a thoughtful, technically rigorous approach.

Through detailed investigation of the mass masonry and wood-framed systems, our team is developing targeted repair strategies and construction documents to help ensure this iconic structure performs for generations to come.

During Women in Construction Week, GRLA recognizes the women who strengthen our profession through leadership, technical expertise, and community impact.

As architects and building envelope consultants, we see firsthand how critical diverse perspectives are to better problem-solving, stronger partnerships, and more resilient buildings.

To the women in architecture, engineering, construction, and skilled trades — thank you for building environments where everyone belongs.

This February, we’re celebrating our roots.

From our founders in 1976 to the leaders carrying the torch today, GRLA’s story has always been about people, partnership, and purpose.

Grateful for the founders who started it all… and excited for the leaders, partners, and clients who are helping write the next chapter.

Big ideas. Real students. Future campus.
Sparhawk Academy students visited GRLA to review early concepts for their high school expansion.
The proposed concept includes homeroom-based learning spaces for each grade, specialized classrooms for science and liberal arts, and long-term planning for gardens, athletics, and community use.
Designing a campus with the students who will use it? That’s the good stuff.
