See those palm trees? 🌴 That's your first clue that GRLA's Building Envelope Sciences team isn't in New England anymore!
BES Project Manager Aaron Kotilainen and technician Jayson Schlosser recently traded the New England fall foliage for the sunshine of Palm Beach, Florida, where they conducted a building envelope investigation at the historic White Elephant Palm Beach hotel.
Working with our client, New England Development, Aaron is using a technique called hammer sounding to assess the condition of the building's stucco cornice features, identifying potential areas of deterioration and helping determine appropriate repairs.
From New England to the Sunshine State, GRLA's building envelope expertise travels wherever our clients need us!

Celebrating Future Leaders and Future Thinkers

As part of GRLA’s year-long celebration of our 50th Anniversary, we were honored to award scholarships to recently graduated Hopkinton High School seniors Isabella Rottas and Dylan Andreola.

This year’s scholarship challenged students to respond to the essay prompt:

"Describe how the built environment can support both environmental responsibility and human well-being, now and in the future."

The thoughtful and inspiring responses reflected the creativity, insight, and commitment to sustainability that will help shape the communities of tomorrow. As a firm dedicated to designing spaces that serve people while respecting the environment, we were proud to recognize students who share these values.

Congratulations, Isabella and Dylan, on this well-deserved achievement. We wish you the very best as you begin your next chapter and look forward to seeing the impact you will make in the years ahead.
