Nordic Wolf Forge

Nordic Wolf Forge Hand forged knives and cutlery from repurposed scrap metals and materials. About me...

I am Daniel Herley (CW2 Ret). Bladesmithing was the answer.

I have over 23 years of multi-service (Navy/Army) with three tours of combat (Mediterranean/Persian Gulf and Afghanistan). During my time of waiting for the inevitable retirement I realized I needed a hobby. This Idea was inspired by a couple close people in my life, my Dad (who took a bladesmithing coarse in 1994) and my good army buddy John Stormm (who has been bladesmithing for a few years). Wa

tching "Forged in Fire" may have had a factor in it as well. John introduced me to a video on how to build a brake drum forge. I thought, "I could do that", so the year throughout the long process of being retired I picked up pieces and parts to build my forge. August 15, 2020 I started up the forge (after three tries) for the first time. Not wanting to waste the fire, I threw in an old file, and hammered out my first blade. Since that time, my skill has improved. I try to do something new with each blade; learning many lessons along the way. I try to stay outside the comfort zone so I can continue to grow and make more complex and beautiful cutlery. Thank you for visiting my page.

This railroad spike knife is forged today in memory of my nephew, Ian James Flick. See you in Valhalla buddy.

Finally had some decent weather to work on these blades. I know it's been a while, but I had some equipment failures. Hopefully I'll be able to finish up a couple next weekend.
