Must be able to take directions and follow through
Must be able to work outside periodically throughout the winter

Homer Boat Yard is seeking a full-time, year round general laborer to join our small but mighty team. The successful candidate must have the willingness to grow and be trained for more advanced technical positions over time. Duties include shrink wrapping, sandblasting and painting boats, general yard and equipment maintenance, and assisting with hauling and launching boats.

We look for individuals who demonstrate loyalty and integrity, and are eager to jump in and help the team when the need arises. Homer Boat Yard's crew is experienced and dedicated to the success of the company as a whole - which means we're dedicated to your success, as well. We will build on the skills and experiences you bring to the boat yard. At the end of each day, you'll go home feeling accomplished and needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Performs general boat maintenance and service work to include, but not limited to: bottom painting, power washing, and zinc replacement. Winterization
• Assists moving boats throughout the facility as a part of a team.
• Positions and secures blocking at bottom and sides of vessels according to size, weight, and weight distribution of vessels.
• Operates a variety of heavy equipment and machinery.
• Carries out duties and responsibilities as assigned, including building and facility maintenance projects.
• Fields customer inquiries and assists them in connecting with appropriate contacts.
• Works closely with the Yard Manager and assists fellow crewmembers as needed.
• Is willing and available to work overtime to meet seasonal demands.
• Utilizes light carpentry skills, including measuring, cutting wood, assembling wood frames, etc.
• Handles boat lines and assists with loading/unloading boats on trailers.
• Performs preventive maintenance inspections and services on equipment and troubleshoots problems.

Requirements
• High School Diploma or General Equivalency Degree (GED)
• Current driver's license
• Commercial Driver's License, Class A (preferred)
• Previous boat yard experience (preferred)
• Hydraulic trailer, boom truck, and fork lift experience (preferred)
• General boat repair knowledge and experience (preferred)
• Outerwear for all types of weather conditions
• Ability to ascend and descend a ladder
• Ability to bend and crouch
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Ability to wear a respirator
• Capacity to work as a member of a team or by oneself to achieve desire results
• Willingness to learn and hone technical skills
• Integrity, adaptability, and loyalty are highly valued traits in a potential employee.
