On Monday, we learned that True Value company has filed for bankruptcy and intends to sell its assets to the Do it Best Corporation. Do it best is a member owned company that supplies over 4000 independent hardware in lumber stores across the country and is based in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

First and foremost, we want to stress that this news will have little to no impact on Holliston True Value. All True Value stores are locally owned and operated, and the True Value company merely acts as a primary supplier. The True Value company has no say over our daily operations. We are still able to purchase products from True Value, and in the event that there are any disruptions on their behalf we have other suppliers that we will be able to fill any gaps in our purchasing.

As far as we know, Do It Best intends to keep the True Value brand and continue business as usual. Holliston hardware has been serving the residents of Holliston from our current location for over 30 years it has been a member of True Value for 25 of those years. We think Do It Best will be a great fit for our business and are hopeful that this transaction will equip us to be more competitive against other hardware businesses.
