Process optimization is critical to supporting high-volume production, especially when parts have elevated quality requirements.

One of our more recent automotive products called for a specialized packaging process, largely driven by the OEM. To support these customer-specific requirements, JMS's Manufacturing Engineering Team went to work on developing an automated packaging machine that cell-packs parts into individual trays before loading them into boxes.

This custom machine has been optimized to catalog two parts per second, yielding approximately 7,200 parts per hour and far out-pacing the previous hand-pack method.

Both are capable of producing complex part shapes by using precisely designed tooling to progressively shape material through multiple stages, carefully managing material flow, strain distribution, and work hardening.
