Behind our OTR drivers is Tammi Horak, cheering them on.

Administrative assistant might be her title, but she’s best described as the glue, working side by side with our drivers and office team to ensure seamless communication (they’ve gotten pretty good at it). She’s a listening ear while our drivers are on the road and the friendly smile that greets them when they return to Hills.

More about what makes Tammi awesome😎:

· She keeps us going (literally, she orders our diesel and gasoline!)
· Seeing our drivers hit million-mile milestones fills her cup.
· Outside of work, she loves spending time with her family, working on her family farm and being outside.
· She enjoys working with our drivers because of their unmatched dedication, straight-shooting honesty and friendly personalities.

When it comes to protecting our team and community, collaboration matters.

John Neal, Bryce Esmoil and Miguel Rios earned the honor of being our September STRIVErs by sharing their NH3 knowledge and hands-on experience with local emergency services during an emergency safety drill. Their ability to value collaboration and radiate enthusiasm made them more than deserving of being our September STRIVErs.

No matter the job, safety is always a top priority.

We collaborated with our local emergency services, Johnson County Emergency Management, Hills Fire Department and EMS, Iowa City Fire Department and Johnson County HAZMAT, to practice responding to an anhydrous ammonia (NH3) release.

Why is this important? As we work with materials such as NH3, we need to be as prepared as possible to mitigate and manage risk for the safety of our team and community. Thank you to all our first responders and emergency services who work to keep us safe!

Ever wonder who keeps us on the road?

Our in-house truck shop team works day in and day out to keep our trucks, trailers, vehicles and forklifts in top shape. They tackle everything from routine maintenance to the unexpected. Thanks to the shop team, we’re never stranded!

A few things you might not know about our in-house shop:

- Our team specializes in servicing heavy-duty semis, making them our go-to gurus for Freightliner, International, Peterbilt and Kenworth trucks.
- The work is beyond just semis and straight trucks (they’re also our Chevy vehicle, pallet jack, dry van trailer, hopper bottom, liquid tank trailer and ammonia tanker experts 😎).
- 70% of what they do is routine maintenance… because they’re just that good!
- Someone is always on call to assist our over-the-road and dedicated delivery drivers if they’re ever in need.
- Our team consists of six techs and one foreman, with two specializing in trailers and four handling trucks, cars, pickups and forklifts.
- We’re looking to add new members to the crew! 👀
