"Former vice president Mike Pence, who is running for the 2024 presidential nomination, (yesterday) unveiled his economic proposal. It calls for eliminating the Environmental Protection Agency and the Biden administration's incentives designed to address climate change."

Good old Mike Dunce. Just another Republican with his head so far up his ass that he's using his bellybutton for a porthole.

And further:

"In that, he is in line with Republican lawmakers. Earlier this month, Mike Magner in 'Roll Call' noted that at least four of the bills released by the House Appropriations Committee include cutting funding to address climate change that Congress appropriated in the Inflation Reduction Act. Project 2025, which has provided a blueprint for a Trump presidency, says 'the Biden administration's climate fanaticism will need a whole-of-government unwinding' and called for more use of fossil fuels.

A recent poll of young voters shows they care deeply about gun violence, economic inequality, LGBTQ+ rights and climate change. Allow those issues are only becoming more prominent."

Yup. The Republican, or should I say Trumpthuglikkkan, Party is truly a party of (stoo-pid) old white men. Witness what a different-hearted old white man accomplished yesterday:

"Taken with (yesterday's) quite comprehensive history of the 1955 murder of 14-year-old Black child Emmitt Till, it seems as if the White House has found a way to push back on the whitewashed history taught in places like Florida, making the country's real history easily available."

Put that in your pipe and smoke it, Ronnie Duh-Santis. What's that? You only smoke pages from banned books? Well, ya got a lifetime of that, bubba.

2019 is the year I hope to transition from making my living as a certifed remodeler to doing it as a certified home inspector. I'm much in demand as a successful cabinetmaker/GC, but I'm ready for a change, and home inspection seems to be a little less physically demanding. In line with that thinking, I'll be leaving the NAHB and HBA of Metro Denver and using those dues monies towards certification and membership in INTERNACHI, or the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors.

Most of my neighborhood has hung their holiday lighting. If you haven't yet, please be aware of 3 basic points of ladder safety: 1) Extend the ladder about 3' above the roof deck if you plan on walking on the roof. You can transition from the ladder more safely with this setup; 2) Erect the ladder at a safe angle. Rule of thumb: With your toes at the base of the ladder, extend your arm straight out. Your fingertips should brush the ladder; 3) Use a bungee cord to secure the ladder to the gutter. Happy (and Safe) Holidays!

Free-standing cabinet I built for a client's mudroom/laundry/powder room remodel. The starting point was a 30" wide cabinet with a 9" tall full-extension, soft close drawer. I added the curved sides and beadboard back. A cleat and hooks were added later for backpacks, coats, etc.

There’s a reason building and construction trades are considered skilled jobs. It takes some years for a tradesman to master his/her skills. It used to be the unions that had that training, but in most parts of the country, unions are weak. In response to the labor shortage, some larger builders are now sponsoring trades education.

Deciding to DIY can be costly or disastrous in some cases. Learn when to put down the tools and call in a pro.
