The company was created in 2014 by Kervyn Tejeda and Edwin Espinal, two childhood best friends striving to provide stability for their families while also servicing the community. After working as U-Haul employees for some years Edwin and Kervyn had the idea of owning their own hitch business. Having no experience in starting a company or operating the day to day aspects of a business, and despite not having any money to invest, they decided to jump right in. When creating a memorable business it starts with the first impression so the name needed to be catchy. The name also had to represent what they wanted to accomplish therefore Miami Hitches was born. The next step was to figure out how to compete in an industry dominated by a multi-million dollar corporation. Confronted with a dilemma they came up with a unique business approach, βwhy wait for customers to come to us when we can go to them.β Thus the idea of mobile service was introduced. Equipped with Kervyn's fatherβs SUV and a couple of personal tools they set off on their first appointment. Just like many businesses it was a rough start having to deal with weather, inventory, and scheduling. Edwinβs home quickly became the office and warehouse, storing their entire inventory in his garage. After a couple of months they out grew the space at home and needed to find another solution. With the little income generated they reinvested it back into the company without hesitation upgrading from an SUV into a box truck (Hitchy) that would serve as transportation and warehouse for the remainder of 2014. Together Edwin, Kervyn, and Hitchy traveled all over Miami-Dade county everyday rain or shine determined to manifest their dreams into reality.
