I built this table base from railroad rail last year. I finally got around to building a top for it from concrete. I used a urethane edge mold around the perimeter and ground the top to expose the aggregate. It looks similar to terrazzo. The complete table weighs around 750 lbs.

I built this maple and stainless steel audio rack earlier this year. I don't do a lot of work with wood, but I really enjoyed making this peice. My customer wanted this rack to be HEAVY. 2" solid maple shelves helped make that happen.

30 year-old Soapstone wood stove. The stone is still beautiful, but the cast iron frame had rusted over the years. Media Blasting and a new paint job made it look like it was just delivered from the factory.

This is a table base I made to go with a walnut, live-edge top. The legs are made from small railroad rails and finished with clear sealant to preserve the patina of the rails. The finish gives a very warm, soft texture to the hard steel. The base is constructed with bolted connections so it can be dismantled for moving.

Anyone who ever built anything knows how we always see the flaws in the projects we build. I'm not saying that this one is perfect, but I am very pleased with the results. If you have seen my other work with RR rails, you will recgnize the theme. These lighter rails are the perfect scale for residential projects. They are hefty, but can still be moved for cleaning or rearranging.

Come see me at the from 11-3. There is a vendor fair and an awesome car show. This General Lee is an excellent reproduction. I asked, but the owner wouldn't let me slide across the hood.

More brake rotors: This sculpture contains 160 rotors. The spiral section stands about 30" tall. I'm not sure what it weighs, but it is heavy.

The pattern is similar to the table pedestal I posted yesterday, but the connections are unique. The table pedestal is connected with threaded rods and a couple hundred nuts. This sculpture is held in place with 1/4" long pins. Each disc holds two pins. The first pin engages the disc below and the second pin engages the disc above. The next disc covers and retains the pin so the whole structure stays solid. Other than the center rod, there are no bolts or welds in this entire structure.

This sculpture is an interesting piece on it's own, but it would also make an awesome chandelier or pendant. The discs could also be broken up to make several fixtures. Let me know how you would use it.

Here is something a little different. I picked up these new, surplus brake rotors at an auction a few years ago and have been searching for an idea for them ever since. This year, the inspiration hit me.

This sculpture would make a perfect pedestal for a table. The 5' wood spool end is just there for scale. You can put your own top on it or I can build you the top you want.

Being a Kansas boy, I can't help but think of this as a Twister.

I have more of these rotor discs and would be thrilled to incorporate them into your project. This is a new direction for the work I do. Please, tell me what you think.

If you liked my last slate-topped table, you will love this one. The frame on the table-top is made of 3" channel. The legs are the same steel 5/8" square bar and the slate slab on this set is natural (not sealed). I prefer the channel frame on the top and the natural grey tone of the slate slab has a very warm feel to it. The full set includes two end tables of the same construction. The slate is reclaimed from old pool tables and the steel is sealed to preserve its natural appearance.

This coffee table is made from solid steel bar on the legs and 1"X3" rectangular tube on top. The stone infill is slate that has been repurposed from an old pool table. I love the way that slate cleaves so I used that effect around the edges of the slab. This particular piece of slate has been sealed so it appears solid black. I will post more tables that feature slate with a natural finish, soon.
