Members this morning participated in a “Murph” Workout. The Murph consists of a 1 mile run followed by 100 Pull-ups, 200 Pushups, and 300 Air Squats ending with a mile run. This workout is in memory of US Navy Seal Lt Micheal Murphy who died in the line of duty in June of 2005.

Great job this morning brothers!

A big step this week for North Carolina’s fire fighter and paramedic families. Thank you to Representative Mike Schietzelt for N.C. House and Senator Benton Sawrey for filing House Bill 1203 and Senate Bill 1004.

The legislation expands tuition waivers for the children of certain public safety employees, including fire fighters and paramedics, allowing them to attend North Carolina Community Colleges at no cost. It creates a direct path to higher education for families who support this work every day.

Public safety employees take on long hours and real risk, and their families carry that weight. This bill reduces financial strain and opens more opportunities for the next generation. We look forward to working to move this legislation forward and continuing to advocate for those who serve and their families. International Association of Fire Fighters

We wanted to highlight a life-changing bill that was filed this past week by Senator Lisa Grafstein. Senate Bill 831 would allow eligible first responders to retire with full, unreduced benefits after 25 years of service.

This legislation recognizes the physical demands, personal sacrifice, and years of dedication required to serve on the front lines. Our members give everything to protect their communities, and they deserve a retirement system that reflects that commitment.

For April and May, while in Walmart and various Ingles locations throughout the City you may have noticed a specific Coors Banquet display.

As part of their “Protecting the Protectors” Program, Coors Banquet has chosen our Local2645 and many other Local Associations to be apart of this program. Proceeds or donations from purchases go directly back to our association for our members!

These funds help pay for training, classes, and mental health assets such as the IAFF Center of Excellence!

Side-note: Our Union is not sponsored by Coors Banquet again this is a way of fundraising for our Local 2645.

Effective Saturday, March 28 at 8 a.m., the National Weather Service has issued a ** 🚩🚩RED FLAG WARNING🚩🚩** for some North Carolina counties. For counties that aren’t under a red flag, fire danger is still critical. Review weather alerts for North Carolina at weather.gov.

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity and warm temperatures will create dangerous fire behavior.

While open burning is permitted during a red flag, it is NOT advised. Please postpone ALL outdoor burning. If there was ever a time to show you can follow instructions the first time they are given, it’s now.

Careless debris burning is the leading cause of wildfires in North Carolina, and you are our best defense against wildfire. For wildfire readiness and prevention tips: preventwildfirenc.org

We are saddened by the passing of Rep. Mike Clampitt. He was a true friend to the PFFPNC and a dedicated advocate for firefighters across North Carolina. He will be deeply missed.

Sunday truck pic. From Henderson County, here's a newly found factory photo of City of Hendersonville Fire Department, NC's 1948 American LaFrance 700 Series quad, 750/[150?], model 775-QJO, reg -3451, shipped April 27, 1948. One of a number of "true quads" that served in our state, and some of which we have previously misidentified. There were also service trucks with lower-capacity booster pumps and tanks.
