The White River Irrigation District (WRID) Grand Prairie Project aims to bring agricultural water to the farmers in Arkansas's Grand Prairie region. When completed, this project will enable the transport of water from the White River at DeValls Bluff to regional farms in Prairie, Monroe, Lonoke and Arkansas Counties. Arkansas now ranks fourth in the nation in the number of irrigated acres thanks t

o progress over the last several decades. This project provides not only agricultural water supply, but also the protection of groundwater and the fish and wildlife it supports. This project receives funding and support from partners including the Arkansas Natural Resources Commission, the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, the Natural Resources Conservation Service, and the Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission.

REMINDER: Informational meeting for local farmers at noon Monday, March 9 at the district's South shop, located at 3218 Highway 63 South in Hazen. Topics will include 2026 canal construction, pipeline installation, road crossings and an open Q&A session. Lunch will be provided.
