Check out my newest project - a contemporary house still under construction. It fits on a foundation from a demolished one-story house in Arlington, MA, allowing construction in areas that otherwise would not have been permitted with current zoning restrictions. Dynamic slope roofed areas top flat roofed building blocks, setback to allow for decks on three sides.

The trend of going green is prompting a huge demand for solar panels. Just a word of advice here...

Many roofs are not built to withstand current loading requirements, let alone the added 5 pounds per square foot that solar panels weigh. This goes not just for our antique colonials, but many split levels and ranches designed in the 60s or so.

Before you add solar panels to your roof, have your roof structure evaluated to determine if it can withstand the additional loading. You may need to add structural work to your project cost so that you do not end up with a sagging roof years later.

Here is an addition completed in Winter 2022. Can you spot the addition? The new kitchen is to the right. This is a perfect example of blending new work with an existing house so it looks like it was always there.

The client, Jordan Caruso, was a Penn State football player about when I went to school there. It was truly fun to create a kitchen to prepare for football parties in the fall and lake parties in the summer. It is big! And wonderfuly functional.
