Old School Parts

Old School Parts We have a passion for old school muscle cars and parts. Nothing will ever equal old school muscle!

We continue to collect old cars and parts and enjoy helping others with their restoration projects if we can.

Sorry we haven't posted in awhile. We actually moved to a new location and built a new shop. Our projects came to a hault temporarily while we were moving and reorganizing but hopefully this Winter we will be back in full swing. Here's some pictures of the very latest project.....2001 S-10 with a 6.0 LS LQ4 motor and a 4L60 automatic transmission. The engine has had some work done to it as you can hear in the video. We are using all the stock guages and interior.

Still doing some minor adjustments after finally getting it back from getting some wiring done but I think it is going to be a Beast! Going to get all the kinks worked out and then will be off for some body work.

Got our roller 327 long blocked today. We still need to install the lifters and adjust the valves but right now we are checking to see what length pushrod we will need to use. As soon as that is done, we will flip it over, install the oil pump, put the pan and timing cover on it, then roll it back over and install the intake and valve covers and it will be ready to go!

Heads for our 454 are back from the machine shop. In true old school style, we are going with the old closed chambered 396/427 heads on our engine. We had them milled just enough to insure they were good and flat and gave them a performance valve job, cutting them out for new 2.15 Intake and 1.88 stainless steel exhaust valves. We installed all new valve guides and had them machined for the good positive type seals and then covered them with Lunati valve springs, locks and retainers engineered to go with our Lunati roller cam. Screw in studs and guide plates were also part of our package. This with our flat top, 2 valve relief pistons should give our Roller 454 right at about 10.5 to 1 compression.

Feeling nostalgic and organizing the shop so I decided to put together a couple of old school motors with parts we had for the build; a BBC 454 and a SBC 4 bolt main 327. Just starting the builds but we are going to go with a set of closed chambered heads for the 454 and a set of fuelie heads for the 327 along with a roller cam to liven it up!

I wanted to put this out there for all of you that work on your own engines or buy your own parts. As I was putting this engine together for one of our S-10's, I found that at least 4 out of the 16 lifters were defective. You should be able to tell in the picture but the top 3 are actually missing the internal spring. First time I have ever seen this and obviously I removed all the lifters from the motor and replaced with another new set. Just examine your new parts carefully to insure they are good. Prices are going up but seems like quality is going down.
Thought we would have some fun with this motor and one of our S-10's. We are going to leave the body and paint as is and leave this motor very plain.
The motor although plain looking should perform very well. It has all new machine work and new parts: flat top pistons, ARP fasteners. double roller timing chain and gears, Lunati Cam, pinned rocker studs, heads have had a performance valve job and have been cut for larger exhaust valves. The weight of the S-10 will help out alot also!

We finally had time to finish the LM7, 5.3 today. Bumgarner Racing was good enough to cut down one of the rear ends for one of our S-10's. We installed a posi and gears, cleaned and painted the housing and are waiting for our axles to arrive.

We have finished the LM 7, 5.3 except for valve cover gaskets. Believe it or not, the gasket set we ordered was supposed to come with everything, including new head bolts...and it did...except, for some reason they forgot to put in the valve cover gaskets but I contacted the company and they are on the way!

Just got the wire harness back for the LS 6.0, S-10 project. Thanks to our friends at S & S Performance in Garfield, Arkansas for flashing the computer and reworking the wire harness for us. Also got a little closer to being finished with the LM 7, 5.3 I have been working on too!

Working on our LM7, LS 5.3. Getting it ready to go in a project, just not quite sure which one yet. I got the engine completely short blocked today. I just have to put on the heads, intake and valve covers and it will be complete! The cam we are using should give us an additional 45HP without doing anything else. I did have the exhaust valve seats cut slightly bigger for a larger exhaust valve and we purchased a new oil pan and pick up tube to give us more crossmember clearance with whatever project we decide to use this engine in. Putting one of these oil pans on our LS S-10 project also. Never hurts to have a little more clearance and hopefully not have to make any crossmember modifications.

In the process of building an old school Roller 327. We pulled this old aluminum intake off a 1968 Chevelle that we bought a while back. It is an Edelbrock TM1 (Tarantula). Should have taken some before pics but gonna be honest, just forgot. This is a single plane intake with an RPM range from around 3500-7000, from the early 70's I believe. Really happy with how it turned out! Ordinarilly we probably would go with a different intake because this hurts your bottom end power but we figured with a smaller cubic in (327) higher RPM Roller motor, it should work great in front of a 4 or 5 speed transmission in a fairly light car. We need to get deeper into a couple of other projects we are working on now before we start another but stay tuned.....it's coming!
