The initial interest in this car was developed when Paul (the original owner) got his very first Metropolitan at

the age of 16 in 1968. The special interest in his car grew and developed over the many following years to the present. Metropolitan Restoration Service built it's initial reputation on top quality Metropolitan restorations and service beginning in 1998. In 2004 we expanded our services to include a line of Metropolitan parts. This line of new parts has grown and expanded to an inventory of well over 1,000 parts. Through the use of our full restoration facility and the original owner's 1956 Metropolitan, we have been able to field test them to assure the customer that they fit and work correctly. We have further increased our inventory through our line of Bull Dawg Metropolitan parts manufactured exclusively for us to our demanding standards of quality and fit. In 2018 we split into 2 business - Metropolitan Restoration Service which handles all the restoration work and Metropolitan Parts which sells parts for Nash Metropolitans. The restoration business has now closed down. We sadly lost Paul in 2022 but continue his legacy of high quality Metropolitan Parts to this day.

MET FEATURE ALERT! 🎉✨🚨

The Met Feature for this month comes from Fred Manseau of Santa Monica, CA!

Fred says, "Hazel, my 1957 Nash Metropolitan originally came from sunny & dry Lancaster, California, which was the perfect solid specimen to have restored. After going through the major technical systems, including a full engine rebuild with new internals and cylinder head, she was stripped down to bare metal for a high quality single stage paint job of the car’s original colors in Sunburst Yellow and Snowberry White.

Hazel was then reassembled with new & restored trim, all new rubber, new wiring, and a new interior with correct original style hounds tooth. It took two years for the restoration, so to remain inspired, I created many paintings as well as murals of my Met, as I imagined she would appear once completed. I’ve always been an artist, and have been an Associate Professor of Art for 35 years now, and still going!

In the mean time, Hazel & I will continue our merry joy rides around the neighborhood waving to, and conversing with all of Hazel’s fans here in California."

Thanks for sharing Hazel with us, Fred!

If you'd like to share your car, email up to five photos and five paragraphs about the car and the project to [email protected] w/subject "Met Feature"!

COMING SOON: TRAFFICATORS

We are excited to announce that we will soon have brand new Trafficator/Turn Signal Switches in stock ( bit.ly/trafficator2026 )! These new units will not require a core charge, making the replacement process much simpler for your Metropolitan. Please be sure to enter your email address in the listing to be notified as soon as they arrive.

They are designed to install and work correctly in any Metropolitan. The horn button is black (unlike the original "bulls-eye" style - bit.ly/bullseyebutton ). Please note that these horn buttons are not interchangeable. Every unit comes with a new ferrule ( bit.ly/metferrule ) and detailed installation instructions. Each switch has been bench-tested before shipping. They feature improved engineering and high-quality plastics for a longer life compared to the original units.

If you aren't concerned with having an exact original trafficator, this is the perfect part for you. However, if you prefer to keep your original horn button and trafficator, you can still purchase individual parts to repair it yourself or opt for one of our rebuilt units: bit.ly/4ulROfj

This issue, we're proud to feature one of the most extraordinary Metropolitans we've ever laid eyes on. David Priano of Hayden, Idaho spent the better part of a decade bringing his 1954 Met convertible to life, and the result is nothing short of stunning.

The car's signature look, a riveted aluminum vinyl wrap evoking the skin of a WWII-era P-51 Mustang, is a heartfelt tribute to David's father, who served with the 517th Parachute Regimental Combat Team of the 82nd Airborne Division during World War II. The idea grew out of a father-and-son brainstorming session, with David's son pushing hard for the aircraft-inspired aesthetic in honor of his grandfather's service.

As David puts it: "Trying to paint it would have involved countless hours, many dollars, a divorce and therapy." A friend who specializes in wrapping everything from police cruisers to Lamborghinis took on the project, spending about six months experimenting with styles before committing to a full week of installation — no small feat given the Metropolitan's famously challenging body contours. The car is licensed, fittingly, as Nashty.

Pop the hood and you'll find an equally impressive engine bay: spotlessly clean with a bold red-painted custom engine build and performance air cleaner that means business. Inside, David handled the upholstery himself, resulting in a diamond-stitch cabin complete with a full suite of aircraft-style gauges across the dash, a custom steering wheel, and a center-console shifter. Every detail tells the story of a builder who sweated the small stuff.

Living in north Idaho, David keeps Nashty on the road from May through September, hitting three or four shows per season and a regular Saturday morning Cars & Coffee. We're honored that parts from our inventory played a role in this build, and we'd love to hear from other customers who have projects worth sharing.

Have a Metro you're proud of? Let's feature it in a future newsletter! Send an email to [email protected] with the subject "Met Feature", a description of what the car means to you, and a bit about the project (write as much as you'd like up to 3 paragraphs). Please include up to five photos of your car. We will feature your car on our social media and in a newsletter! Your car does not need to be original. It can be custom, original, or anything in between - we love them all!

Our latest Met Feature (and star of the new catalog cover!) comes from Carl Fry in Park City, Kansas. He says, "My wife, Bonnie, drove a 1956 T-Bird for many years. It was a show car with all the available options: power steering, power brakes, 312-V8 with the factory dress up kit, automatic transmission, FM radio and a removable hard top. She took it to National T-Bird shows, and the car showed well and won many awards.

Why am I telling you this? She sold her T-Bird and bought the car she dearly loved; a 1959 Pink Metropolitan. She saw a picture of “Pinky” and wire-transferred the money, having never seen the car! I told her it was her money, and she could do what she wanted. We both only saw the car for the first time when the transporter dropped it off in our driveway. It was the cutest thing! Hot pink and pink, custom interior with extraordinary pin striping inside and out and equipped with every accessory available.

Bonnie loved this car and drove it to many, many shows. Pinky seemed to win a trophy every time along with two “Best of Show” awards. Sadly, Bonnie had to quit driving a standard shift about seven years ago. I drove Bonnie to a few shows after her left leg operations, but she said it was not the same, and we stopped showing Pinky. Pinky sat covered up on one of our lifts for about six years. Bonnie succumbed to breast cancer and passed away November 2, 2022.

I happen to be the president of Cars For Charity Co. doing business as Cars For Charity Rod & Custom Car Show. 2025 marks our 20th anniversary. We bought the long-running Wichita Darryl Starbird show in 2011 and changed it into a charity event giving 100% of all proceeds to AbilityPoint and Starkey.

This past summer my son and daughter said I must get Pinky down and put her in our 20th anniversary show (January 18-19, 2025) in honor of their mom.

Well, that is where you guys, Metropolitan Parts come in. I did not even know exactly what year Pinky was built. Chris Reeder confirmed the car was built in 1959 based on the cowl tag. Pinky suffered from setting. I started by removing and cleaning the gas tank, replacing the fuel lines and cleaning the carburetor. You guys had everything I needed! Brake master cylinder, wheel cylinders, clutch master cylinder, clutch slave cylinder, all the flexible clutch and brake hoses, brake shoes and pre-formed stainless steel brake lines. One unusual thing: something in the ageing ignition/headlight switch required the headlights be on to start! Yep! Turn off the headlights and the car stopped running! No problem, you guys had a new switch… except the new switch had a different number of terminals… Here again you guys emailed me a diagram.

The amount of attention given to Pinky never fails to amaze me. At this year’s 2025 C4C show, literally hundreds of little girls and women stopped and took a picture with Pinky. “Mommy, mommy.. It’s the Barbie car!!” What fun! Plus Pinky took home two sponsor choice awards. Pinky has also been a good local ambassador for breast cancer research.

I’m pretttty excited about having Bonnie’s Pinky on your cover! I’m sure she would have loved it. Thanks to you guys, Pinky is back on the road with new ring-gear, flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, 100% all new wiring, under-the-dash junction box with 12 relays & 12 fuses, LED lights all-round, Bluetooth sound system, and I even had the driveshaft balanced. My family is having fun driving Pinky because everyone that sees Pinky, loves Pinky."

Thank you so much, Carl, for sharing your story and these fantastic photos with us. If you'd like for us to feature your car, send an email to [email protected] with the subject "Met Feature", up to five photos of your car, a description of what the car means to you, and a bit about the project (write as much as you'd like up to three paragraphs).

EVEN MORE USED PARTS NOW ONLINE!

As we've mentioned before, if you have ever called us in the past to order used parts that we don't have listed in our catalog or website -- we are now listing the most popular ones online. We have many more listed now, so take a look!

We won't be adding all used parts that we offer, so do call in if you're looking for something that you don't see online. Please keep in mind we will continue to add more parts, so continue to check back in.

Everything on the Used Parts page came off of parts cars dating from the mid 1950s through early 60s, so they will be various colors and will not be perfect. We are also located in Pennsylvania (the northeast part of the United States), so most metal used parts will have rust on them. You will have to restore the part(s) to your standards.
