The National Science Foundation (NSF) funded National Center for Next Generation Manufacturing is highlighting the accomplishments of the 2026 Mechanical Engineering Technologies and Manufacturing Engineering Technologies (MET²) Cohort. These students worked all semester on their projects that included concepts and technical applications of Additive Manufacturing, 3D Printing, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) for predictive maintenance.

The final presentation took place at Central Connecticut State University for the University Research and Creative Achievement Day. We thank you for the opportunity to have our students present their hard work on campus.

This year's projects would not be possible without: Karen Wosczyna Birch Steven Longpre, Sean Belleau TriMech Haoyu Wang John Birch, and the many faculty and staff across institutions who guided our students along the way.

Another national achievement for CTECS welding students. 🔥Please join us in congratulating Colby Judson, who earned 2nd place in the Project MFG National Maritime Welding Competition in San Diego - bringing home a $5,000 prize and national recognition for his skills.

This marks the third consecutive year that a Howell Cheney Technical High School welding student has been invited to compete at the national maritime competition, an incredible accomplishment for the program and for Welding Department Head Ms. Norell.

As part of his achievement, Workshops for Warriors awarded Colby a full scholarship to its 16-week accelerated welding certification program after graduation.

Congratulations, Colby! 👏
